When you want to spend the day swimming in Akumal Bay, your first stop should be the Akumal Dive Center. Don't get it confused with the Dive Shop who do not rent snorkeling gear. You can rent a mask, snorkel and life jacket for $10. They also rent lockers but were nice enough to watch our bags at no charge.... More

Myself and my teenage daughter are novice snorkellers and after visiting the other dive shop in Akumal bay and being told hiring snorkel, mask and life jacket is banned everywhere in Akumal bay and also being told we couldn't snorkel to see the turtles anyway, we visited the Dive Center to be greeted with a friendly face, equipment hire and... Took a trip last Saturday with these folks on their ~35 foot catamaran and it was a blast. Great crew. We went from 10am to 2pm and they took us to a private beach where we snorkled and they cooked a great fried fish lunch. Visibility wasn't great as it was really windy Sat but that's not something they can... More

I had made some casual inquiries before my arrival in Mexico. From the helpful tone of their emails, I was convinced this was a shop to check out. When I visited the shop, they cemented the deal; my buddy and I were scheduled to dive the very next day. We did our Advanced Open Water dives with Alex. He's by... More

I dove the Dos Ojos Cenotes and it was amazing. The dive center staff was super friendly and helpful. The guide Franz was awesome. I was with some less experienced divers and he made them feel comfortable. Can't say anything negative about the entire experience. Even emailing the dive shop for information they responded back quickly. Actually going back in... More

Abraham was a great guide and I would definitely recommend him as a divemaster ! which I would have done but was having sinus issues :( our 3 hour trip lasted more like 4, I caught 2 snappers... I have fallen in love with Akumal and it is mostly due to the diving and training I do through Akumal Dive Center. I enjoy this place so much I use all of my vacation time to travel here twice a year. I have a personal goal to continue my underwater education and I come here to do it because... More

Very polite people. Experienced instructor. Transportation from/to the hotel. The OWD training was a very good way of spending the free time at Mayan Riviera.

We are 2 families with young kids. We rented life vests from them to snorkel which is mandatory if you want to swim pass the buoy. No fins allowed also in this area. We were told to not wear our biodegradable sunscreen before getting in the water or wait half an hour. They have free hot shower and bathrooms for... More

I brought my family of 7 to spend the day at Akumal Beach. When entering the town, you can let the security guys know you are going to the Dive Center, and they will direct you to private and free parking right by the shop. It's a short walk to the center to get your gear. The staff are very... More
