About
Tres Raíces arises from the idea of a Mexican family to create a place where they can enjoy what they are most passionate about; the wine. The word THREE refers to each of their children, and the word ROOTS refers to the concept of "putting down roots", developing and caring for the most valuable of the family foundations, as well as caring for the most important part of the vine. plant: the roots.

Excellent Visit to Tres Raices made extra special by Mauricio, a superbly trained Sommelier, who guided is on history, process and tasting of five delicious wines. Architectural detail is amazing both exterior & interior. Word has it that dining there is also a wonderful experience- enjoy, we did. James, Austin, Tx

Amazing place

Excellent place, everything was great: the hotel room, the winery, the restaurant, and the attention and disposition of all the crew in the place, in special Mr. Juan Caceres, who is in charge of the service in the swimming pool. We wiil be back soon for another great stay in Tres Raices.

Needs some improvement
May 2021 • Couples
It wasn’t clear from their website but each small pour for their tasting is 80 pesos, plus they stick you for any water you drink. We finally just ordered one bottle of white wine and the cheese and meat plate and sat outside. Uneven service but the setting and food and wine were delicious. They need a good manager!

Terrific Tres Raices
Apr 2021 • Couples
Things could not have been better at Tres Raices today. The grounds and facility are drop dead gorgeous- an oasis in the middle of nowhere outside San Miguel De Allende. We arrived a few minutes early and we were taken to a comfortable seating area and offered a glass of white wine while we waited.

Our guide Isabel effortlessly took us on a short walk through the grape vines up to a lovely observation area that overlooked the vineyard. She promptly presented us with two wines to taste and told us about them and the grapes that are grown here.

We were then taken to a unique antique door from India where we entered into a gorgeous hallway and made our way to the production area before descending into the climate controlled cellar. The tour was a such a seamless experience.

Next came the most amazing and delicious five course gourmet tasting menu paired with excellent wines. The entire experience and food would rival any high end restaurant almost anywhere. Isabel was not only knowledgeable about the wine but the food as well. She explained in detail each course and how it was prepared. Having been to Italy and France to learn about wine making, Isabel knew what she was talking about.

I won’t go into specifics of each course but we started out with seared tuna, followed by pork belly, beef and mushrooms, mini wagu beef burger and a refreshing desert. Each course was accompanied by a generous pour of the paired wine.

Just an incredible experience! All COVID-19 protocols were strictly enforced!

Worst ever!!!! I’d never go back

It seems the management has trained the staff to increase profits by pouring smaller glasses this is the third time it’s happens and for 180 pesos a glass it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in a restaurant
And when I asked for more ketchup with my fries the same waiter I complain to last time about giving me a very small glass of wine completely ignored me when I asked him again for extra ketchup he totally ignored me and my request I brought all this up to the managers attention and told him of my experience which he ignored another genius. I’ve never called back and you should know about my experience the service under attempt to increase profits so sad

A very pleasant surprise
My family has always liked the wine and food culture, we love to go to new places and try new things, specially if it involves wine, we’ve been to tons of vineyards around Mexico and we always learn a bit more.
Today we went to Tres Raíces, a vineyard in Dolores, and once again we were impressed by the incredible food and wine we had. We had the Mediterranean panela cheese as a starter, the tasting of five wines with food, the fettuccine with salmon and burrata, and for dessert, the chocolate sphere and the cake of the house, which was simply the star of the show. I’ve tried tons of cheesecakes in my life, cause it’s my favourite kind of cake, and never had I seen such texture with that perfect slight hint of sweetness, if you go you definitely have to try it! Recommended by a cheesecake lover!
The portions of food were quite decent in relation to the price; the service was also very good.
We had a really nice time, we’ll definitely come back, hungry.

Peaceful weekend at the Winery
Feb 2021 • Couples
What an absolutely beautiful place! My husband and I spent a weekend here and enjoyed every minute of it! We stayed in one of the Casitas actually located right next to the growing vines. So quiet and peaceful. The casita was amazing from the cozy bathrobes and super soft towels in the huge bathroom to the king size bed that was like sleeping on a cloud! Our outdoor area overlooked the vineyard for great sunsets and just viewing the beautiful nature surrounding you! Loved the fire pit!!
We did yoga on our porch, rode bikes through the vineyard, Wine tasting and had amazing meals in the restaurant!
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Room for improvement
Mar 2019 • Friends
I really wanted to like this place. It has some very cool design aspects & a lot of (as yet) unfulfilled potential so maybe it will be great in time. But when we went in early 2019 it really needed help, esp. on how to cater to guests with experienced or sophisticated taste (which seems to be their target clientele?). As a half-day get-away just outside San Miguel de Allende, our group of 12 locals were really looking forward to visiting it & to our $$$ private group winery tour, tasting menu / chef lunch. If you don’t live here, the place would not be easy to find so some strategic signage would help. Then upon arrival, despite our rez., we were just kind of left waiting around for 20 min. unattended until finally someone seemed assigned to us. Then what followed was a far too long & generic (& sales-pitchy?) tour in golf carts around the (then) not finished facilities/grounds. The lodging was completely unfinished as yet (but we were told about it at much length standing in the hot sun). But there were a couple very cool spaces to see like the cask room. But others, like a private rental room, we were just left to stand in for 15 min wondering why we were there. Despite the long, hot tour, no water was ever provided nor any tasting of wine along the way—huge missed opportunity. Being from the SF Bay Area & CA wine country, we feel the first thing you really wanna do on a winery tour is give your guests something to drink to set the fun tone. And then mid-way, during the loooong explanation of certain processes, another tasting would have been perfectly timed & welcomed. But no such luck. Finally the tour was over and, now totally dehydrated, we were put in a big, weird white room that looked like a mtg room. Zero ambiance (as compared to the restaurant space—why were we not put there?) The “special tour room” we had to eat in felt more like a downgrade than a treat. And we had to ask for water 5x & wait 20 min to get any. Crazy. Really untrained service in general. The 5 course tasting meal that followed was not very good (if you know good food & tasting menus) & their paired wine was also not up to snuff except for one varietal. We applaud the attempt of this place & hope their winery takes off and that this place really blossoms with time but I can’t recommend it based on this first visit. Maybe by now things have been ironed out, improved upon, and it’s a good spot to visit or stay. If I was to try it again I’d only go to the restaurant which seemed like a much better option or have sunset drinks & snacks and bypass the tour & tasting menu. Here’s to best of luck to this place, we really hope they can make a good go of it & if so we’ll come back!

Most beautiful winery
Jul 2019 • Friends
Just visited there today with my friend. We booked our trip through AirBnB experiences with Miguel. Chris was our guide and he spoke wonderful English. The winery is beautiful. Chris said they built it keeping with the Mexican culture as much as possible. They have recycled wood and stones throughout. The architecture is amazing, and it’s so well decorated. Chris did a great job answering all of our questions and teaching us about the wine and the winery. He was wonderful and you could tell he loves his job. He even held my purse for me (I was just going to set it on the ground) when I took a picture with the wine barrels. The wines were wonderful. I don’t normally like Rosé and theirs was my favorite. I bought a bottle of the Cabernet to take home. My friend loved the Syrah. We did the wine and cheese tasting. The cheeses were fabulous as well as the meats with them. I would LOVE to go back when the hotel is open. Frida assisted us when we got there and gave us a list of other places to try in San Miguel de Allende for the rest of our trip. She was super sweet. Miguel was the bartender who allowed us to taste the Tempranillo which was also wonderful. He was also very nice and did a wonderful job chatting about the wine. Armando was our very sweet driver to and from SMA.

Wine tasting outside of SMA
Jun 2019 • Couples
This is a new vineyard/tasting room. We had a great English speaking guide, Chris, who took us around the vineyard in a golf cart showing us the different grapes grown there. They will be a hotel in the future as well with casitas amongst the vines. We then toured the very modern facility viewing the process machinery, the oak barrels, the VIP room, the restaurant and then to the tasting area. We went with the 5 tasting and cheese platter for 700 pesos per person. All 5 - rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Merlot and cab were quite good. We bought 2 bottles - a Merlot and a cab, which were around 30usd each. Highly recommend this tour. Taxi from SMA round trip with wait time approximately 1,000 pesos.
