The site takes on new meaning when you interact with the guides and listen to their presentations. The rangers are well-informed and encourage questions. There is a 2.4 Km hike over a boardwalk near the site that traverses bogs and barrens and coast line.

This was a well presented historical site. The guides were knowledgeable and the re-enactors entertaining. Took a long walk around and climbed to a metal display.

I highly recommend taking the guided tour with the Parks Canada staff. It make the site so much more interesting and the history come alive. I also recommend the evening program that is offered for and additional fee

Loved this experience. It was so interesting to see "Vikings" at work on their daily chores and how they probably lived back then, when they settled in Newfoundland for a few brief years. Parks Canada have recreated a Viking settlement adjacent to the actual archeological...More

Definitely recommend doing the guided tour as would be difficult to appreciate the significance of what you are seeing without. We had a very knowledgeable guide who explained not only about the Viking encampment but what challenges Newfoundlanders living in the area currently face regarding...More

Before walking across the boggy meadow to see the re-created Viking settlement close to the shoreline, have a look inside the Visitor’s Center at the excellent model of the Viking village. Visitors see the layout of the settlement, the appearance and grouping of dwellings, and...More

We did the tour of this historical site and really enjoyed it. The ranger who lead our tour was a storyteller and gave an interesting talk as we walked through the area. This is where a Norse expedition landed 1,000 years ago. I learned that...More

Great place to visit and learn about viking settlement and how they lived. It gives a great idea of what life was in that day.

Do not miss this site. It is worth visiting just because it’s so well done both exhibit-wise indoors, the guided tour and the exterior re-creations. There is nothing that was done poorly here. We went and were so impressed with wha we experienced. The guided...More
