It was a simpler time. It was a better time. We drove just across the border to a new time zone and a new experience at Roosevelt Campobello International Park, the summer home of president Franklin Delano Roosevelt from his youth. Visiting the actual rooms and seeing what passed for luxury in the early 1900s might be "roughing it" for... More

Taunya led our Tea with Eleanor on a Sunday last Fall. I encourage all who visit the cottage and island to take time to attend the tea. I could have listened for hours to her talking about Eleanor and her life of service to others.

I'm interested in presidential history, so this was a must-visit when we were across the bridge in Lubec, ME. Beautiful island and house with an excellent free tour. The highlight was definitely "Tea with Eleanor" - tea and cookies with an Eleanor Roosevelt historian telling us interesting stories and answering questions. It's free but first-come-first-served, so get there early to... More

We arrived before the visitor center opened at 10 AM, so we could get free tickets to Tea with Eleanor. We got our tickets when the visitor center opened, and were invited to see a short video about the Roosevelt Cottage and Campobello Island, after which there was a walk to the cottage guided by a park ranger. At the... More

My family and I came here and the kids were tasked with finding out about a lot of facts about President Roosevelt and his life. It was a njce side trip and lots to learn about his life and this special place

Very beautiful setting. Very knowledgeable tour guides. Be sure to go through the house and gardens. This is in New Brunswick so US passport required.

Campobello Island is relaxed and surrounded by gorgeous scenery, miles (kilometers) of carriage roads suitable for taking leisurely drives, picnics, bicycling, hiking trails, touring small coastal fishing villages where you might see whales and dolphins swimming nearby. Crossing over the FDR International Bridge onto Campobello Island from Lubec, Maine, Mulholland Point Lighthouse stands on the left & is easily accessible... More

We visited Roosevelt's summer cottage, if you can call 34 rooms and 10,000 square feet a cottage. It truly is a step back in time and the furnishings are very spartan, considering the wealth that existed. Our guide Jocelyn gave us a great tour of the part that is open, filling us in with little tidbits of information about FDR... More

We included this side trip on a recent RV tour. What a great historic preservation of US history! It is a wonderful collaboration of US/Canadian effort and admission is free. The "Tea with Eleanor" included tea and cookies as well as a great talk giving insight into the former First Lady's life. Be sure to arrive early enough to get... More

Toured Roosevelt's cottage. Very good and interesting tour. Enjoyed seeing the different rooms in the home and getting an insight into Roosevelt's time there. Home is located at a scenic location with backyard leading to a boat pier at the bay. Offers nice view. Enjoyed lunch at the excellent nearby fireside restaurant. Only one there. I then drove around the... More
