Didn't know a whole lot about gnarly trees but are now informed and impressed with what the Ancient forest Alliance (TJ of Big Tree Tours) have built to open up the forest for others to enjoy and to marvel at these beautiful gnarly giants. This...More

This park gathers a few of the the funkiest big cedars of the west coast rain forest. Both sides are interesting... Although the upper one mostly for the gnarliest tree :)

Amazing trees. The 20-minute drive along a very bumpy track from Port Renfrew is well worth it. In the lower grove there's a particularly amazing tree - go left once you're on the foot path.

This give is way cool and it's a must see. The road is rough, so take it slow and enjoy the views. We liked the upper home best.

The road is very rough to get to this spot. A car can do it, but if you get motion sickness, don't go. We had a sedan and it was very bumpy - big rocks. The parking lot is small. You then can hike up...More

this is a must visit if you are in the area. The setting of avatar grove exceed anything we expected. We consider this the most stunning hike and this is after we just completed hikes at Cathedral Grove and the rain forest trail at pacific...More

This took our breath away! Go early or just before dark, so you can enjoy the grove without hordes of people jibberjabbering. Humans! Not an easy climb if you are frail with poor balance. Some of the steps don't have handrails or steel mesh on...More

The path up at Avatar Grove up to the gnarliest tree in Canada is strenuous but worthwhile. For most of the route, there is a boardwalk with wooden steps but there are parts where one has to climb over tree roots, rocks, etc. It'snot easy...More

This grove of gnarly trees are beyond the imagination. The size is enormous and have to have a comparison to fathom. Path is challenging and I would suggest a cane and company. My husband and I were lucky to have kind family members to help...More

The hike is 20 mins and it is beautiful but be prepared for the drive over rough unpaved roads . The First Nation community should improve the directional signage . Plan to explore other other areas in Port Renfrew because... More
