We were staying at nearby Rowena's Inn on the River and decided to visit Kilby Historic Site. It was very interesting with friendly staff and cute animals. The young ladies in the General Store were dressed in period costume and were available to answer all of our questions. They were very personable and full of interesting stories about the Kilby... The Kirby family left this place to the State and although now the State has stopped funding it they continue to run the place on admission fees and donations. You must visit the place it's a snap shot in tip. Perfect in terms of how things were a 100 years ago. The store has all the inventory left when the... More

We meant to drop in as we drove past. We ended up spending the day there. A super lady gave us a tour and had so much enthusiasm it was infectious. The lunch, all home made was delicious and excellent value. Canada does not have much that is old so its nice to see this whole site being preserved. The... More

We were at the 110 year anniversary of the Kilby Store - very interesting history - and one of the sons of the original owners lives in our town now (Salmon Arm)

Attended the 110 anniversary of the historic site. The buildings have been maintained as they were in the day, complete with pigs, goats, and chickens. Interesting to see how this family adapted to provide to their community needs and the surrounding area. Store, hotel, post office, library, gas station, farm... All in one! Don't forget to have a slice of... More

The Kilby Historical Site is a worthy place to visit if you're on a trip to Harrison or another place and it's on your way. The historical recreations are top-notch, especially the General Store. There are lots of farm animals to observe. The two pigs were especially adorable and the dairy cows walked right up to us to be petted.... More

Lots of interesting things to look at/ read about the history of it all. My kids enjoyed the animals & museum the best. You could buy little bags of feed for $1 then... More

Harrison Mills, BC. This is Kilby, BC's Museum of Rural Life! A 1920s Fraser Valley Living History Site. This town had a major flood in 1948, so houses and businesses were elevating them on stilts like posts and using boardwalks to connect the community. The general store was officially opened on August 14, 1906 by Thomas & Eliza Kilby. Their... More

My wife and I stopped here while we were exploring the Harrison River area. They have friendly people witha nice gift shop area and restaurant that is clean and country styled. Having visited on a Sunday we took advantage of the Roast Beef dinner. The meal was good comfort food and plenty of it. The vegetables were fresh and not... More
