We had booked a Nadu river tour and our tuk tuk driver brought us to the spice garden en route. This place is such a scam. Please refuse to enter if you stop here as you will only have to part with your money in order to leave. We were shown around the garden and made to feel very uncomfortable when offered face creams and a massage we didn’t want. Quoted over £200 for avocado cream for sunburn and a hair removal cream. This is not crème de la Mer! We weren’t allowed to leave without parting with £30 for our “entrance fee” for ourselves and two teenage children. Honestly, it was the worst. And the only time we were hassled like this in our 10 days in Sri Lanka. Never again.

At first you get a tour around the small garden where the guide tells about the plants and the benefits. A few minutes later he tells you to sit down in a open room, where he again shows the product and young boys starts giving neck massage with the products. It all became too fishy when he started handing out printed e-mails from former customers praising his products. Before entering the final stop on the tour - the shop - we left. This was not what we were looking for and felt like one big scam.

I strongly recommend not to visit.

Tourist trap. Only showed you the herbs they wanted to sell, including herbs to aid better sex. Felt very uncomfortable with the face massage. They then took us to a room and told us to take our shirts off for a massage. Again felt uncomfortable.
Complained about the tip I gave then when we refused to purchase anything, the attitude changed and he showed us the door. Do not recommend. You can purchase everything you need from the local shops with the same packaging for a fraction of the price.

My tour guide took me here, and the magic happened as I am being an Indian so knew the importance of Ayurveda and this place is like heaven, as here they give body massage to relax using exotic essential oils made of all natural herbs which really are effective and also sell all sorts of medicinal products and all together its a Tourist Board approved. So its a best and trusted place to end your day.

Nice upon first appearance but pure tourist trap once in. A man who claimed he was a 'doctor' and named many qualifications rushed us around asking what our ailments were, then advised every since spice and herbal product as miracle cure for all sorts of health issues. Rude man then saying we all need tablets because we're 'fat'. Men in our family ordered to take their tops off for a 'free' massage and then pressured to buy all of their products. Around £300 down.

All in all a good day out for the family.

We enjoyed a visit to Kosgoda Spice and Herbsl Garden. The gardens are very well laid out & attractive to walk around. Our guide gave us a comprehensive explanation of all the plants and spices and their properties. We were treated to face massages using some of the creams they produce and a foot massage too. At the end of the trip we were able to purchase products from the lovely little shop there. A really nice visit.

We got a tour of the small but very nice garden that contained a lot of different spices and medicinal plants. Our guide explained the benefits or the various plants and how to use them. After the small tour I received a free neck/shoulder massage and my girlfriend got a hand/wrist massage and a foot massage.
We were kindly asked to make a donation for the tour and the massages as the guys performing them were on a course/internship kind of thing so it was to help them.
After the massages we were shown into their shop which seemed quite expensive but if all their products are fully natural then it seems fair.

All in all a good experience and would recommend people to go.
