They've set the standard for river parkways. The green-space is fantastic. Bike paths, walking paths, benches, scenery, dog parks, they've got it all. Whether you want a quick stroll after supper or to spend some time having a picnic, this is great.
Park over on the MN side by the River City theatre for 2 hrs free parking and start your adventure.

Lovely in the summer, this park keeps the river flowing in the spring by eliminating obstructions. Lots of entries and exits through the flood wall -which was incorporated to be a 'feature' in beautiful down town grand forks. bike paths that run for miles and miles for jogging, biking, and rollerblading, which includes a half dozen bridges to go back and forth from ND to MN. under train and traffic bridges makes this park a feast for the soul. Many places to play for children as the paths wind through various parks north and south of the city. Also canoe and boat rentals just north of the Sorlie bridge in season. Huge holding ponds with ducks and other wildlife. other areas you can clearly see where neighborhoods used to be before the flood of 1997. recently visited by President Clinton to commemorate the flood of 1997. Many things to see and do in downtown Grand Forks.

Fun overnight trip to Grand Forks including a walk through Memorial Park. Neat old downtown right across the river from Minnesota.

As others mentioned, was built after the floods. This park is inside the levees that were built. Miles of paved trails, and you can connect to the Red River State Recreational Area on MN side to make a loop. Liked that some of the benches were rockers. Would like to see it when everything is open and complete.

The grounds were clean and had nice facilities. We had a wonderful break from the hustle of being a tourist.

This Memorial Park is a result of the flood of 1997. After the flood of ‘97, plans were drawn up and executed to build dikes and flood walls to protect Grand Forks from future flooding of the Red River. This meant removing roads and buildings which left a lot of riverside property wide open. “Let’s make it a park!” ...and so they did. This park in Downtown Grand Forks is also home to the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Flood Memorial to show the height of the ‘97 flood, and other flood heights as well.

Memorial Park is connected to an incredible walking/running/biking trail that we call the Greater Grand Forks Greenway. There are miles and miles of paved trails along both sides of the river which are connected by bridges and walkways. These trails give you awesome views of the river and the nature that calls this place home.

Whether you are up for a nice walk, or a looking for a place to ride your bike without fear of vehicle traffic, or maybe you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee, the Greater Grand Forks Memorial Park and the Greenway is always a good choice.
