Atiya Jame Masjid (mosque) is a small masjid (60 ft X 40 ft) situated in Delduar upazilla of Tangail district. It takes about 2:30 hours to reach there from Dhaka in a personal or rented vehicle. The final 20 min roads are very narrow and ragged. There are no public facilities (toilet, food shop, hotel, etc) in this remote village. As it is a masjid, it remains open from early morning till the last prayer of the day (8 or 9 PM) and does not need to pay anything to visit this. You can even take photos of the masjid from inside.
The main attraction of this masjid (mosque) is its archeological aspect: It was built in 1609 AD during the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir by Sayeed Khan Ponni who got the porgona (administrative unit consisting of few villages) from the emperor. Interesting point is that, this masjid is still active, that is, five times prayers (compulsory worship in Islam) are performed by the Muslims daily.

Atiya Mosque is situated in the village of Atiya under Delduar Thana in Tangail district, about 10 kilometers south of the district headquarters. It stands on the east bank of the Louhajang River.
The mosque is small in size, measuring externally 18.29m by 12.19m with 2.23m thick walls. It is rectangular in plan, consisting of a square single domed prayer chamber and an attached rectangular corridor on the eastern side covered with another three smaller domes.
This mosque was built during 1610 by Muslim Jomidar Sayeed Khan Panni, son of Baizid Khan Panni. He also dug a large water tank at the western side of the mosque. Local says that the mosque was built for the honor of a saint Shah Baba Kashmiri.
The mosque was damaged during the massive earthquake of 1800. A reconstruction of the mosque was made in 1837. Also, during 1909 another reconstruction made by two Jamindar from Korotia and Delduar of Tangail jointly. Wazed Ali Khan Panni was from Korotia, and Abu Ahmed Guznavi Khan from Delduar.

2) Now you have to take CNG auto. It is at Tangail (টাঙ্গাইল) Bus Stand, 1 minute walking from the old bus stand.
3) Take the public CNG auto and ask you to drop you at Pathrail Bot Tola(পাথরাইল বট তলা). Fare is 15 taka. GPS of the Pathrail bot tola(পাথরাইল বট তলা) is (24°11’55.09″N, 89°56’19.15″E). It will require 15-20 minutes to reach the place.
4) From the bot tola(বট তলা), take another CNG auto and ask it to drop you at Atia Mosque (আটিয়া মসজিদ). Fare is 10 taka. GPS of the mosque is (24°11’2.64″N, 89°54’40.80″E). Time requires 10 minute. Alternately, you can use your own vehicle or reserve a CNG auto instead of sharing with public.

Atiya Mosque is situated at Delduar Upazila in Tangail district. The beautiful heritage mosque is 400 years old and surrounded by the placid Louhojong River on its eastern side. The iconic Atiya Mosque used to be on the old Ten Taka note of Bangladesh. The designs, architectural patterns and terracotta panels of the mosque blend harmoniously to conceal both the Sultanate and Mughal features of Bengal.
It is worth visit illustrious Atiya mosque.
