From the downtown area, one has nice views of this river and its very unique lift draw bridge. We were lucky to see it raise and lower to let a large tug and its barge go by. The city did a great job in preserving much of the natural beauty of the river but still have it host a commercial pier and other working piers.

Anytime being on the water is relaxing for my wife and I. We spend our time off on the water all the time.

How do you review a river?. First of all, it is very wet. Assume that the fish in the river are happy, except when eaten. Sufficiently wide for boats to pass. When sun reflects off river, it hurts the eyes. Something should be done about this. Otherwise its perfect.

The walk down the riverfront with easy access from downtown Wilmington is a must-do if you happen to be in the area. One can walk up to the Coast Guard ship berthed in the area, watch ships sailing up and down river.

I went to Wilmington for the first time and had found a place called Wilmington Tours, they do boat rids down the Cape Fear River. One of the best memories of this trip was that ride down the Cape Fear River and learning the history behind it.

Wilmington is right on Cape Fear River, and to better know the city one needs to take a riverboat tour. We took an old steamer boat that was most appropriate for a historic trip back to the 20th century. Or guide was gracious, funny and knowledgeable. We went up stream to see the North Carolina battleship, and then cruised south to see the remains of a glorious time. It was a most interesting tour, fun and a great learning experience. It gave us a perfect understanding of the time past. Great tour!

The area is known to have alligators and on the riverfront ,signs says that the river has strong cureents and no swimming. We stayed on a 45 ft, yacht that was docked near the Henrietta III and the owners said that the river were very treacherous (twice) We went on a small boat ride under a bridge to a marina which was pleasant, The water is dark ,murky, and mysterious..One will understand the "fear" in the Cape Fear river..
The children did sleep topside but when I had tried to sleep topside earlier ,I kept hearing noises from a rowdy bar. I do not believe that the children had any trouble from flying insects.

Can a small flat bottom boat wit a trolling boat have access to shark’s tooth island? Retired Fossil hunters who are too old to paddle.
