I have lived in North Carolina for almost thirty years now and have spent all of my time in the Piedmont and the eastern part of the state. I still have lots to learn about the Inner banks, because I always end up at the Outer Banks. This small museum made the environment of this low marshy land more understandable.... More

We went on the River Roving boat tour first. We learned about the fish, wildlife, the estuary and the town of Washington. The inside is very interesting and no one rushes you through. You learn a lot.

We came here solely for the boat tour so I can't say what the rest of the museum is like. The tour was enjoyable though, and we learned several interesting facts about the area's history. Would definitely recommend checking it out, and preferably on a day when the weather is not too hot.

My wife and I planned a visit here on a quick trip to Little Washington. As others have said, it was small in comparison to other similar types of museums but face it...estuaries don't mean much if anything to most people so the population of people wanting to visit is small. The folks there do a nice job and it... More

Our family, from all over converged on Washington to celebrate a wedding the night before. Next day, 15 or so of us were looking for a place to hang out, be in the air conditioning, do something together, catch up, and feel the local lore. The Estuarium won out. I'm a story guy. Capture me with the story of people,... More

It was cute. Movie was kind of boring. The turtles and baby alligators were cute. Have your children do the scavenger hunt they will learn more and collect a little toy after they turn in their clip board. The ladies are super sweet.

Wife and I stopped by while walking the waterfront. It is a good was to spend some time and learn things. It informs you about the waterways of NC. The staff is very nice and informed. Good stop.

This was a very good tour of the area, started off with a movie then an introduction by a staff member, followed by a walking tour. The price was very good at only $5.00

The volunteers are very helpful and knowledgeable. The museum itself is very well put together. Great interaction activities for kids of all ages. Skip the first movie in the big auditorium and sit down for the video that is in the exhibit hall. Well worth it. Be sure to ask about the sculpture in the main entrance.

First warmish day in early spring, took my preschool grand daughter to the estuarium. She loves fishing and the beach, so this was a natural. We were the only patrons, but still warranted a guided, interactive tour! The docents were well versed, friendly, and cheerful. The large variety of exhibits, lack of crowds, and number of hands-on activities made this... More
