I am tempted not to write this review to keep it more our secret hideaway. We love Falls Lake and all it has to offer. We really enjoy camping and can even pull the boat up to the camp site.

Great large natural areas close to civilization with a variety of different recreational opportunities including hiking (part is the mountain to sea trail), camping, beaches, fishing, boating etc. There can be some busy areas and times.

Our family keeps their boat on Falls Lake for spring, summer, and fall boating and picnicking. We have found a beach site at the lake that provides all we need, even public restrooms.

Falls lake is large enough for recreation but not so large it loses it warm and inviting atmosphere.

I went during winter (but it was a warm day) and walked a bit of one trail near the visitor center. Beautiful area.

Love to venture out to the Falls lake area. To me the falls lake area is not just confined to the lake/park. It extends down the Neuse river and the trails throughout. Lots of hiking/biking trails, canoeing, fishing, bird watching, critter watching and even people watching as there are usually people in the area. You should be able to catch... More

We camped here in the fall of 2016 at the catfish cove group site. We had 6 different families(kids ages 5-15) and had a blast. This site had water access for our paddleboards but we did have to carry them down a hill and back up. The only comments I have about this specific site was that most of the... More

A little out of the way, nice place to stop for a picnic or a walk. Wish we'd had more time to explore the trails.

Since this is just a short drive from Raleigh we decided to go out for a hike on a beautiful Saturday morning recently. The roads through this Corps of Engineers facility are closed on weekends making the experience all the more pleasant. We parked outside the gate in a parking area and then walked down to the lake and the... More
