Original finds site for some of the most important humanoid fossils ever found, the caves had to be a must see for us. In the event, the attached museum was probably more enticing than the cave visit itself. The 'cave' would not feature high on...More

Discovery of Little foot and Mrs Ples was fascinating. Going through the narrow openings was challenging but made...More

It is a privilege to visit such an important site in the history of humanity, and our guide was ok. However the cave itself was just ok - there are more spectacular geological examples elsewhere if that is your interest. Worth the trip, though.

The Sterkfontein Cave has an interesting exhibition area showcasing human evolution before you enter the cave. The cave itself is not spectacular but it is relatively big and deep. There are active excavations ongoing in the cave which are not accessible to the public.

We really loved the tour. Really charismatic and knowledgeable tour guides. This is an active archaeological site, don't expect the commercialism found in other caves in the country. Mining activities has destroyed millions of years worth or crystalline growth, but what is left is truly...More

This place is plenty of meaning if you realized that it is the place from where all of us are coming from. Besides, it helps you to understand how and why all these fossils where formed to let us learn about our pass.

Hi. Yes you can. Do the cave son the morning and the park in the afternoon. At least that way you get to see the Lion feeding.

Check with the caves. The path and rocks can get very slippery when wet so then they suspend access.
