My husband & I spent a few hours doing the tour, no doubt you could do a lot more but our favourites were the underground brewery and the Redruth Gaol. That being said, we enjoyed everything we saw & had a lovely day in Burra....More

My family decided to get a key to visit the sites around Burra. Most places you could get away without one, however the police lockup and Redruth Gaol were definitely worth the purchase. Fun way for the kids to learn about local history.

Really enjoyed the experience of the passport tour. We did it over two days and really discovered what Burra was like. I felt like I had a real feel for how tough life was back in the 1850's. Even if you only have a passing...More

Reasonably priced and very well sign posted. Passport key is an excellent idea. Easy to follow maps and attractions well restored with copious amounts of historical info. Some area a can be walked...others in the car. Some attractions staffed by really knowledgeable volunteers.

I would suggest you contact the visitor information centre because they can probably answer the questions re transportation. I wouldn't think you can collect ore, but they might be able to answer that as well. The Black... More
