Another fortification to protect Australia from the Russian invasion. Don’t miss if visiting Thursday Island. The museum has restricted opening hours so ring ahead.

A short walk from most hotels and a great view of the sunset. It is about to be a great place to watch the blood moon tonight. Fingers crossed!

In my opinion and without prejudice, the real history of our war veterans up in the Torres straits is mainly on Thursday Island up at the old Fort and also in the Thursday Island cemetery. As a war veteran myself, I wouldn't waste my time...More

I visited this place on a bus tour of TI and it was the highlight of the tour. The view was incredible and we wandered around for quarter of an hour just soaking up the scenery; it was awe inspiring. You can see for miles...More

The perfect location on Thursday Island to watch the sunset. Green Fort Hill gives you a great view of neighbouring islands, boats in the seas and wartime history. Well worth a look. Take a picnic and some chairs or a rug and enjoy. Can get...More

The story of the fort is most interesting but the views from it are exceptional. At sunset one gets the added benefits of seeing flocks of Cacatus flying from island to island

We were told it would take 25 minutes but maybe 15minutes from the Douglas st ( the main st) turn off. It’s steep but well signed posted and not so long. Amazing view over the Torres Strait islands. Such beautiful colour to the water. The...More
