The view from up here was great. Don't listen to Google maps walking! Sent us the long long way!!!! But having said that, we saw a big chunk of the island! Impressive engineering and determination to build such a structure into the rock. The bunkers...More

Even if military history isn't your scene the trip to the fort is worth the small effort required. It is easy to find, the road leading to it runs of the main road of T.I and although it is uphill, it's only a short distance....More

Worth a visit to get a really good understanding of local history. The views are stunning , especially at sunset. Be careful about the walk, it is quite a hike and difficult in the heat of the day. Worth getting a local taxi to take you...More

it's a nice drive up and a relaxing walk around this strategic fort - full of gun emplacements and wonderful views. There are no facilities up here so bring your water bottles. This is an outstanding place for a sunset veiwing.

Another fortification to protect Australia from the Russian invasion. Don’t miss if visiting Thursday Island. The museum has restricted opening hours so ring ahead.

A short walk from most hotels and a great view of the sunset. It is about to be a great place to watch the blood moon tonight. Fingers crossed!

In my opinion and without prejudice, the real history of our war veterans up in the Torres straits is mainly on Thursday Island up at the old Fort and also in the Thursday Island cemetery. As a war veteran myself, I wouldn't waste my time...More

I visited this place on a bus tour of TI and it was the highlight of the tour. The view was incredible and we wandered around for quarter of an hour just soaking up the scenery; it was awe inspiring. You can see for miles...More
