This building belongs to the second half of the 19th century and its location in Passeig Verdaguer makes it emblematic of a glorious past, when the people of Lloret left everything behind to go and seek their fortune in the Americas. This house, a surviving example of the traces of the indianos −those who left for Cuba or the West Indies and came back once they had made their fortune.

The route is divided into five areas: Sons of the sea, Mediterranean, The doors to the ocean, Lloret after the sailing ships and Beyond the beach. The Maritime Museum is housed in what used to be Casa Garriga.

We allowed more time this year, and enjoyed looking at the models of the sailing ships and learning about the history of trade with South America.

We happened to be in resort when numerous town sites were going to be opened for free. Normal fee is 4 euros for adults and 2 euros for pensioners/youths/students &disabled. Approach is via the Tourist Office and museum is on 4 floors-lift is available for those who may not be able to climb all the stairs. Excellent models and descriptions... More

Such a great insight into the heritage of the town. Lots of different exhibits to explore and also some connect with other monuments within walking distance of the museum. Very cheap enjoyable few hours.

For those who enjoy history this is the place to go. It is a wonderful museum that speaks about the history of Lloret and how it became a trading port. It also talks about the Americanos - people who left Lloret only to came back later after they made a fortune overseas, mainly Cuba.

Found it when we had some walk over the beach On Sundays its free, so it's pretty nice for families. We spent there about 30-40 mins.

Set in the house, Can Garriga, of a ship owner, this interesting display traces the long maritime history of Lloret, with excellent models of ships. The great days of sailing ships ended with steam ships, and the need for coastal freight was much reduced with the arrival of the railways.
