I really enjoyed the couple of hours I spent in this museum. Although this was my fifth visit to Xining, it was the first time I have been. There is a lot of material on display, much of it really very old. The displays are well done and there is an english translation for most of them, although not all.... More

The museum is free before 5pm weekdays. You have to show your passport and they give you a ticket. We spent about 2 hours walking the exhibits. Many of the signs are in English and you get a good appreciation for the history of the region. This is a great museum for people interested in the history of the people... More

Like Lonely Planet said, scaled down in size. Two rooms with some info on the different minorities in the province. Titles are in English, but the main info is in Chinese. The place is hidden away on Xining square because the front door leads to a mall. The front door had a broken down metal construction on the stairs. It... More
