Far better than expected with good English translateions and clear explanations, beautiful displays in an impressive building. Kind staff, well maintained and the buildings around the museum are worth a small walk around as well

This was a very well curated museum which explains the history of NingXia and YinChuan.

The permanent exhibit includes the petroglyphs of Neolithic NingXia, the histories, religions, arts of the area. And there is a special section concerning the Silk Road and YinChuan.

The museum is well worth the visit and answered some questions I had regarding NingXia and its situation with the neighboring province of GanSu.

I spent about 2 hours one afternoon in the Ningxia Museum. It exhibits are related to the Ningxia people and its history from prehistoric to now. There is a very interesting rock collection on the main floor. They look like food such as beef, pork bellies, cheeses, nuts, etc. Quite amazing. it is worth a quick visit.

Ningxia Museum is one of my favorite in the world. We an discover there treasures of the Xia era, unique through history. Everytime I go to Ningxia (more than ten now), I can't miss it. I will not tell you WHAT you can see, just let you the pleasure of being "astonished" .

Beautiful modern building with high quality display of artefacts. The Neolithic and Paleolithic sections are particularly interesting and richly provided with exceptional petroglyphs. The "new China" section is worth visiting if you have a good tolerance to nationalistic propaganda and grossly biased history .
Regretfully, no bookshop in the museum and minimal information in English. However photographies ARE allowed.
A well worth visit anyway. Plan 2 solid hours to enjoy everything without rush.

We had an AMAZING experience with this tour in Yinchuan! It was kind of hard for us to get around Yinchuan ourselves because almost no one spoke English so we decided to go to this guy who spoke English and it was more than what we expected!

So they took us to sites such as Shuidonggou, Helan Mountain, Zhenbeibao TV & Movie city, Shapotou desert etc., I highly recommend you guys go to at least two of these sites. They might be far from each other but there is a lot of nature and culture to see in these places.

Other than that, we did cool local things such as: Hike Helan Mountain and camp there; BBQ and dumpling-making in a traditional Chinese yard; Exploring local night markets where all the local people go. I think they organize other things such as biking the city and villages, and learn how to draw Chinese calligraphy etc. but we didn’t have time to do those.

Seriously go to these guys, They offer a low price too!
