I have been to many mountains in China, namely Emeishan, Taishan, Leshan and etc but Zhanjiajie just took my breathaway when I reached the mountain top.The sharp precipice and pointed mountain is just like a painting. Although it was winter and there were remnants of snow on the mountan slope and grass the sun was bright and sunny with chill wind blowing across the mountain. I took many photos while walking around the mountain to explore the beautiful scenery that had me fascinated and the entrance fee was more than worth it. Wanting to explore more, I decided to walk down the mountain. It was a difficult terrian with some snow on the mountain slope which made the journey a bit hazardous and I had to walk carefully to avoid the slippery snow. The journey down took me more than one & a half hours and I was totally exhausted when I reached the spot which provided transport for the final journey down the mountain. I spent two days in Zhanjiajie and proceded to Phoenix Town which took about three hours . It was raining slightly when I reached the town and it was very lated in the evening. The next day I walked around the ancient city which is very picturesque. There were many tourists exploring the town on foot and the journey around the town took about two hours. The food in this town is good and cheap. I also visited the late Chairman Mao's hometown. Nothing to rave about this place as it is an ordinary country side with mainland Chinese paying homage to their late leader.

Just like all the attractions in ZhangJiaJie, the scenery is beautiful. Everything is natural, untouched by civilization. The lake cruise is calming and you get to listen to local folk songs along the way. The hike to the lake can be a little difficult for elderlies as it's an upward climb. However, you can hire local men to take you up. You will sit in this chair that has 2 poles, two man (one in front, the other in the back) will lift the chair on the poles and take you up.

I am not sure what the rest is reviewing but for the photo this is Tianbo Mansion near Yuanjiajie. Here you go down first in the mountain next to the cable car then take the right and through the mountain to end up in top of a karst. Looks easy right? Oh yes, forgot the part about the metal steps and cliffs, and our beloved crowds packing the way. It's not that hard since at least a couple of women in high heels made it there, but it's fun and I am glad we when there.

We visited ZJJ this month and I must say that it was a once in a lifetime experience. The natural beauty of this place is phenomenal and its amazing to see how these mountains rise up from beneath. It is a sight to believe ! You can spend hours here looking at these majestic mountains and be amazed by mother earth and its natural beauty. The area is very well maintained, very clean and easy to get around (minus the crowds). The views are spectacular... and when the clouds come in, its breathtaking. Hope you enjoy your visit! Remember to wear comfortable shoes.

just been to china on a trip for 33 days, one of the many highlights was the nature reserve in zhangjia jie .first of all ride to the top in the cable car , the mountain scenery is very unusual and amazingly beautifull,. although we encountered foggy weather going up the tianamen mountain the mist added to the beauty of the area , and from the top you can see a sea of cloud down below. and the points of the top of the mountain sticking out. take a walk on the glass balcony , dont look down if you are afraid of heights. amazing experience.
take a 6 km. walk by the golden whip stream , its like walking in a fairy forest !.truly and amazing nature reserve.

I do not find climbing a metal ladder to be as exhilarating as others have pointed out.

For me, the view from the lookout was dissapointing compared to other parts of the park (Yuanjiajie, Zaozizhai, Huangshizhai, Tianzishan).

Only visit this place if you have time, I preferred "one step to heaven" and "corridor in the cliffs".
