The place is well maintained and managed. It has history and it has that very Old China flavor. A must go place in Changsha to understand Wei Chu You Cai. Also a very good place to just sit ,relax and enjoy the cool mountain breeze in summer.

This is one of those must-see attractions for Changsha. It is an historic location, central to Hunan and Chinese culture.

1000 year old institution. Very unique to have seen it. Did not pay to actual go into grounds, stayed walking around prestigious university areas.

The Yuelu Academy is nestled at the foot of Yuelu Mountain. The entry fee is 50 RMB. Please note that there’s no English interpretative service and that only some of the plaques have been translated into English. A lot of the English used is very repetitive offering minimal insight to the academy’s history. So if you are not familiar with... More

This is the thousand years academy where people in the past study poetry, philosophy and much more. The school is still functioning now for those who excel in philosophy . It is interesting place to visit as the architecture is preserved for a thousand years. Inside are different rooms where the ancient people study in. It is linked to the... More

It's just another big park with a few buildings and hordes of tourists. Intersting for the history but there aren't very many explanations once you go inside regarding its history

Went for a look costing 50RMB entrance fee. Nice grounds but lots of rooms were closed with dirty broken furniture inside. I was expecting to see tables / paintings showing what Chinese schooling was like over 1,000 years ago. Nothing like it. They were many etchings of aged writings on the walls but the place looked recently built. There is... More

This is a well preserved learning academy with various buildings, a museum (which is air conditioned) and an opportunity to hear some traditional chinese music. The gardens are beautiful and well manicured. A nice place to visit for about 1-1/2 hours. There is more hiking in the Yuelu Mountain complex.

Yolo Academy is an academy more than 1000 years. Here you can enjoy the traditional architecture, ancient library and lecture hall. The ticket price is only 50 yuan. Half price for people over 65 years. Highly Recommended!

This is by far my preferred place in Changsha. It is rather quiet and a little bit off the busy areas of the city. The garden/forest around the academy makes the ambiance quite authentic. The history of the place is also very interesting. I would visit it again.
