Enjoyable historical site

A lovely site, easy to get around. Is a smaller version of the "Peoples palace" or Forbidden City in Beijing. Lovely gardens. A lovely lake to take a boat ride.

This is the forbidden city just like people go to in Beijing, but to me this is severely under appreciated. Why? This was Home to seven emperors and six dynasties, and at one point the largest and richest city in the world. Now you can take boats around to all of the sites. At night the boats around here are... Skip this if you don't have very much time. Especially so if you have been to the Forbidden Palace. The exterior looks better than the interior. View from the top is nothing to shout about too.

Garden with lakes on both sides, beautiful flowers along the pathway that led to the palace building. All the buildings were rebuilt and missing the authenticity.

I have been there sometimes, I think the most important thing about Dragon Pavilion is not to see the stairs, the tower and the hall in Dragon Pavilion like the picture above, the most important thing is to feel the significance and magnificence of the great Song City which has been drawn away almost completely by the big flood. You... More

A better view of an emperor's palace than in Beijing but also much smaller. Many steps to climb to get to the top but a nice view once there. There was a flower festival when I visited which made a nice added touch. Look for the model of the original grounds and the wax figures tucked to the side showing... More

Kiafeng was the capital of six dynasties in the past , second only to Xi'an. It has many ancient sites and stories awaiting foreign tourists to explore. Dragon Pavillion Park was built on an ancient site where past emperors lived and conducted its official meetings more than a thousand years ago. This park is very huge , with typical Chinese... Dragon Pavilion Park, as whole Kaifeng, is beautiful. You can find there everything: a lake, historical buildings, green areas. Really worth visiting.

It's a big and good-looking park in the middle of town. Lots of people taking pictures in front of the park entrance. You could save the 60 or 70 rmb fee by walking along the outside of the park to get an idea of it but you wont be able to climb up to the tallest building for a view.... More
