This museum is quite spectacular in its simplicity and the quality and variety of its collections. I have heard that it's the largest museum of Overseas Chinese memorabilia in the entire country, but have no way to verify such information. It's in between the two well frequented malls of Joyful City and Wanda, yet draws a tiny fraction of the visitors that go to those places... much of the exhibits are items the emigrants from Wu Yi area left China with, donated by their descendants.There are life size exhibits of gold miners, railroad workers, rubber tappers, barber shops, laundries, a post office, train, airplane, and more... well worth at least an hour or two of your time.

I had no expectations when visiting this museum but I was quite pleased. It is a well done and modern museum that documents the history of the movement of local Chinese people abroad, their tribulations, and their adaptation to their new countries. Museum is bilingual Chinese and English with original artifacts, photographs, and some mannequin reenactments. Closing times seem to be completely arbitrary as we were hurried out way before the posted time. Final section of the museum must have been temporary as it felt very tacked on and irrelevant to the subject of the museum (life of Mao Zedong, though this section had no English).
