Sunset Park has a beautiful carousel, a nice train, and a wonderful Splash Park. I am very disappointed it isn’t open in the mornings. The afternoons are way too hot to play in the sun with toddlers. Most days are in the 90’s. If the park was open at least by 10am little ones could enjoy all the fun before it gets to hot. Thank you and I hope you will consider this suggestion!

Not a bad choice to relax, walk around the lake, have the kids ride the train or merry go round, Board Sports, boat landing in the Tar, tennis, spray park in summer, picnic shelters by the river, baseball field or basketball courts....a little bit of everything for most everybody. Well maintained and patrolled.

In the Amusement park concession stand, the staff is very rude. Would not provide me with a cup to sit my childs icee in so it leaked all over her outfit. The park seems alright but please teach staff, particularly the older black lady, some customer service skills.

We only had an hour to spend here, but we definitely got our money’s worth. It costs $5 each to get into the park, and then you can ride anything. First we took a train ride around the park, which was very pleasant. Then we rode the carousel, which was the reason we came here. It’s a Spillman Engineering frame from 1920, but the horses looked more like an eclectic hodge-podge of Herschells to us, certainly from more than one era. Most were wooden, but some seemed to be that wood / aluminum combination of 1925 – 1930 and we found one aluminum horse still in park paint (probably a replacement horse while another is being repaired). Some are beautifully restored while others are obviously waiting for restoration. I saw one picture taken in a September that showed most of the horses removed from the carousel, so they must store them in a building for safety. That’s a relief to us. After riding the carousel the children had fun playing in the splash pad and on the playground equipment. All in all it’s a nice park, and considering the rides here it’s a decent price.

First I need to say to be sure to check to see if the rides are open. When we were there they had just closed for the season.
The park offers a basketball area, a tennis area, a picnic area, playgrounds, and a disk golf course that are open all year. After the 5th of September the rides (1952 mini train ride, 1920 Hershell-Spillman country fair style carousel, and a cute little ladybug ride) are closed for the season. The carousel was even dismantled. It's still a good place for a picnic or if you just want to stretch your legs after a long drive.

Grandchildren love the train and splash park, open during the summer months. The train is over 50 years old and still fun for all ages

Our niece and nephew had a lot of fun playing on the playground. Very nicely manicured and safe. Parking is very close.

I was wondering about admission fees to the park. I saw it is $5, but didn't know if it was for certain ages. We have a 2 year old and an 11 month old. Thanks.
