You can buy bait and other fishing accessories, I believe there might be a minimal charge to fish off the pier. Makes for some great pictures! Restaurant next door with Ocean view, great food! Do not let kids swim near the pier, the bait and...More

Most of the pier is now gone due to hurricane Andrew. Not sure you can even walk or fish on it anymore.

Great view but its closed for repair. It was a good fishing spot not to good for swimming though because the sharks love it also, swim away from the pier.

Really it's just a pier. Walking to it was more fun for the family than the actual pier. If prefer going to Southport in the morning to sit on the pier there. If you don't make it to the Oak Island Pier don't beat yourself...More

Pier is closed because it's condemned. Shark exhibit isn't worth the required 50 cents. Beach is poorly cared for, and was very crowded. Public bathrooms were three Port-A-Potties that were in deplorable condition and should have been condemned, too.

The mouth of the Cape Fear River (fresh water) merging with the Atlantic Ocean supplies interesting catches. Never know what you will pull out!

If you like watching people fish and walking piers then you will enjoy this. Offers great offshore views as well.

This is our choice of pier for fishing. The view is great also! The folks working the shop are always friendly and glad to see you.

Yes I did hear they were rebuilding. This is a great fishing pier & lots of sweet old fishermen to help my son & I when we went fishing. 😀
