I love to drive my roadster to the top parking lot and back. Though speed is limited its still a fun drive with lots of curves. The view at the top is awesome and just a short walk from the parking lot. A side trail goes around the base of the mountain where there are numerous rock climbing opportunities. The... More

I did not venture into the tiny town of Pilot Mountain. but the mountain itself is one of the most remarkable sights in nature I've seen. It looks imposing and unreal, and I was interested that Peter Jefferson, father of Thomas, surveyed it back in the early 1700's.

Definitely worth the drive up to Pilot Mountain. Several overlooks once at the top. Parking is plentiful and restrooms are available at the top. Lots of steps and some mild climbing on the natural rocks, but worth the view.

Awesome Views. Steep drive to the summit but well worth it. Clean Restrooms. I have visited twice this year. April was a windy, cool day. July was hot but there was a breeze blowing.

My wife and I detoured from our beach trip to explore Pilot Mountain. For anyone traveling in the area, this is a neat, easily-accessible stop with nice facilities for picnicking, hiking, etc. If you have the extra time, it's definitely worth the drive up the mountain.

Just drove to the top, parked and walked around and checked out the view. We could not walk to the top as it was just natural rock steps and no hand rail. We are old and clumsy so we would not attempt the climb. It would be great for younger people that likes to hike and climb.
