Great way to start your day!
Sep 2021
We had a girls trip to Asheville and we were recommended to Sandy Bottoms by locals in the area. This place is WONDERFUL! We are all animals lovers and they take such good care of the animals on site and the facility, from the horses to the helping/guiding trail dogs to the goats.

We did an hour trail tour and the sites and views of the mountains, the terrain and the trails were breathtaking. They have all different size horses for all levels of riders from novice to advanced. By friend rode a mule since she was more in the novice side.

Our guide was Heather and she was friendly, personable, knowledgeable and entertaining. Our trail dog Wilbur may have stole the show.

“Wee-Man’s” Big Adventure!
Sep 2021 • Couples
We spent our last day in Asheville taking a beautiful 2 hour trail ride up in the mountains. Neither of us having ridden since we were much younger, I’ll admit, I was a little nervous about climbing up such steep hills on a large animal that can sense uneasiness a mile away. However, the minute I met “Wee-Man” and our guide Tripp, I knew we were in good hands. My husband rode “Buck” and we immediately hit it off talking to Tripp about common interests as he told us about the areas we were seeing and the large piece of land they work daily. Our day was perfect with our horses relaxed, dogs following along with us, great weather and experienced guide. We are so appreciative of all their hard work and would absolutely recommend riding with Sandy Bottom Trail rides. Also special credit to the office staff that was very accommodating when we realized that we had the wrong time and were running late. Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to experience an adventure that would have been a real shame to miss out on!

We did the 3 hour ride. Loved it ! Got to rest a little at the mine then back on the trail. VERY well behaved horses. I would suggest this for first time riders and those with experience.

My husband and I booked the 2 hour ride - We are experienced riders and had a fabulous time! Beautiful views, great guides, gentle horses, thoroughly enjoyed it! Fantastic group of people and well organized - Look no further, this is where you want to trail ride. We suggest calling ahead for reservations. We will definitely be back soon!!

Amazing Views

My boyfriend and I were thrilled with the 2-hour ride. It was his birthday when we went and it was also his first time. Our guide was a true cowboy and was really great with all of us. Can't wait to come back!

So glad we decided to do this!

We booked the 2 hour tour and had Tripp as our guide. He was delightful - happy to talk to us and share stories of his cowboy adventures and eagerly took photos of us with my phone. He seemed to really enjoy all parts of his job and was kind and patient with my 10 year old daughter. Honestly, he was really patient with all of us, as my family are quite obviously city-folk who have zero experience with horses. We all had a blast and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Extremely friendly people working here! The views during the horse back ride were beautiful. Jake, our guide, was so nice and knowledgeable and you could tell he loved his job with horses!

Family fun
Jul 2021
*Well run, well established family run business with safe and knowledgeable staff who will take you on an introductory trail rail for all ages.

*Some reviews mentioned the staff rushed them through the ride, but we didn't experience this at all and it was a very busy day. But you need to be 1/2 hour early as requested so they can truly go over everything with you especially if you are a novice or first-time rider.

*I grew up on a ranch in Montana and wanted my (city) family to get a glimpse into real horseback riding. This place was perfect for that experience with staff taking care to match the horse with the rider’s experience level and age. The ride itself is through some very beautiful country and amazing views a bit NW of Ashville. You can even stop at a gem mine and dig in the dirt a little for fun (if you chose that experience).

*Bottom line my kids loved the ride and it truly sparked their interest in horses and the country way of life!
