The most fun I think I've ever had in my life!!
This was my first time ever going white water rafting. My only regret is not doing this sooner! I am so hooked! Now I want to build vacations around different white water rafting destinations.
Matt was our guide. Matt was amazing from start to finish with our trip! He is very knowledgeable and knows so many interesting facts. You can tell he really loves what he does and wants to make sure that everyone has a memorable experience. Your safety is his number one priority. He knows every nook and cranny in the river which amazed me. Matt definitely made this already amazingly, beautiful experience that much better! Excellent, excellent job Matt! Thank you for making our experience so much fun!
We chose to do the full trip which included the class 4's. I am so glad we chose the full day since the half day trip doesn't go through the class 4's. Half day would be for families that have little ones under 8 years old. The views along the river are breath taking. We got lucky that there weren't many boats out, so we basically had the river to ourselves. If you want an experience that you'll always remember definitely choose French Broad and it's amazing staff to be the ones to take you white water rafting. There are many places to choose from and they'll show you the river but it's the staff here and our guide Matt being so friendly and knowledgeable that really made the experience one that I'll always remember. I'm looking forward to doing it again!!

We went on the 5 mile white water rafting tour with our guide Eric. The views were stunning and Eric was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and was an amazing guide. The safety protocols are talked about multiple times and our experience couldn’t have been better thanks to the staff that work there.

I took my 13 year old grandson and he loved it. It was his first whitewater experience and I think he is hooked now.
Pete, our guide, was experienced, calm and was able to keep us rowing together.
It was a great experience & I highly recommend it.

We did a Full Day Rafting with friends from out of town and even though it was a rainy day in May and kinda chilly it was so great! Our guide, Marti, was awesome and made sure everything on our trip was fantastic! The team were all so kind and welcoming and worked hard to make sure our day ran smoothly and we had a good time. They did a great job making sure we knew the safety protocols too. Can’t recommend French Broad enough!

Whitewater rafting with FBA was an amazing experience! We had a staff outing on the river and FBA did not disappoint. The communication was on point, the process was smooth, and the guides were top-notch... they were professional, capable, knowledgeable, and full of the best bad-dad jokes! I highly recommend!

was great to be on the water, in the water and riding the water. French Board Adventures (FBA) made it possible, safe and enjoyable. Easy to find show up and have fun. We brought friends and made friends and heard of FBA from a friend. best marketing is the word of mouth - hence wanting to share how great they were... BTW SAM our river guide... pretty awesome too. THX FBA and Sam for a fun memory and adventure.
after checkin and safety info plus travel to the water, we were on the water for about 2.5 hour and then travel back to the cars for the 1/2 on the water but still worth it.

From the time of booking our trip to the time we ended our fun day, everything was well organized and very friendly. The staff working inside the office was helpful and friendly, the person driving the bus was funny, all the guides looked excited...they all made it a great day! I do need to say that the all-day rafting trip is the way to go. The half-day is good, but you'll miss the best scenery and rapids if you stop there. Our guide, Ian, was great and connected with us like he was a part of our 'Carolina' and 'wrestling' family. French Broad Adventures is our new place to go!

Our guide, Shawn, was good.
Water was perfect for my 11 year old sons first time- 2&3 rapids were thrilling yet not traumatizing.
My only major complaint is that the 1/2 day was short! We left base after 10 to drive to the river and we were back to my car between 12:30; a far cry from the 3-4 hours I thought we would be out. It would have been nice if we would have warmed up/ learned to paddle on some flat river first… I would have liked more time on the water.

Jim was a fantastic guide! We booked a slot that no one else signed up for, and we got a private boat for my husband and me! It was such an experience. The water was COLD in April, but we still jumped off the rock when given a choice halfway through our trip and had a blast. The views alone are beautiful, and the rapids were a thrill. Expert tip: When riding down the river, the boat's left side gets wetter than the right. We forgot to pack our water shoes, but that was not a problem store had some for sale, reasonably priced, and sunscreen. Jim was great; they knew much about the surroundings, like a tour guide and rafting experience. He even told us where to get some good food where we were staying. I LOVED IT MUST DO!

Do you need experience for canyoneering? What level of fitness requirements?

We did the long rafting trip and you don’t need any experience. They’re really good with beginners. Not sure about a minimum fitness level though. We had an older couple in our raft that did fine. Hope this helps

Are you thinking about going zip lining?
I can't edit my review, and I can only post one review every three months. So I just want to add that Sarah and I also went zip lining yesterday with French Broad Adventures, and I highly recommend it. Mars and Shu were our guides. They're fun, great teachers, and made sure everything we did was done safely. They have a few lines over 1000 feet, a couple spots to repel, and a gorgeous tree house at the end of a swinging bridge.

One additional point. I've been zip lining at a few places, and although this was a lot of fun, this is more a beginner and intermediate zip lining experience. So if you're looking for some lines that cross a ravine several hundred feet in the air, this isn't it. You'll get some long runs, I think 1200 feet is the longest, and they can go fast, but kids and not very/little/no experienced people were able to get through without an issue.
Mars and Shu are fun, great sense of humor, definitely climbers, and all around awesome people. We were happy with our experience and we'd go again.

How do I add a AAA 10% discount to my order? There is only an option for a promo code. We are only booking one White Water Trip for two adults.

What are the physical fitness level requirements for the Class I-III trip? Can Granny go? :)

I'm really sorry it took so long for me to respond to your question! I don't really look at the notifications on trip advisor that much, I wouldn't worry about the physical fitness requirements, either for zip lining or for rafting, there were people of all ages and all fitness levels who were comfortable all day

We stayed at the Water's Edge Cabin, less than 10 minutes away. It was a great stay, too. We rented it through VRBO. We cooked in the cabin and only ate out once at Bojangles in Weaverville, about 30 minutes away.
