I love to hike but I am not that experienced. This place pushed my limits in a good way. It had cables and ladders to climb up. I have never done any of this my whole life. Bring your hiking boots!! The trail will roll your ankles if you aren't used to hiking. In boots you should be fine. If... More

My souse and I visited Grandfather Mountain at the beginning of November from South Africa. Our visit was excellent. I was of course being South African super excited about the brown bears and other animals and also coming from a wildlife conscious family it was good to see how well the animals are cared for.

This privately owned park is $20 per adult and $9 per child but there is lots to see and do: once you drive all the way to the top you can continue to hike up even higher and / or walk across the bridge which is exactly 1 mile above sea level ! We were there Sat. after Thanksgiving and... More

My wife and I had intended to see/experience Grandfather Mountain during our four days in the mountains of N. Carolina this past Thanksgiving weekend, and we are both super glad we did! Grandfather Mountain is five thousand feet above see level, yet it never feels like it! Sure, there's the popping of the ears! And if you still at the... More

Everything about this place is spectacular. If you're entering from the Blue Ridge Parkway you're already in awe of the views but it gets that much better. What's great about this park is it meets so many different needs. You can park below the summit and hike Grandfather Trail to the swinging bridge or drive to the summit and experience... More

We had been given three free adult admission passes to grandfather, so that was what it took to get us to give it a try. BEAUTIFUL place, great rocks for the kids to climb on, we did a short hike to the hanging bridge, but mostly took in the amazing views. It was wonderful. We got there late in the... More

Wonderful day exploring Grandfather Mountain! Beautiful scenery, not too crowed. It's the best $20 pp you'll spend with $9 per child under 12 (I think?). Visit the shop for a fun souvenir item. Listen to the CD you are given at the gate to take full advantage of your adventure/day. The swing bridge is a must! It you're traveling with... More

Awesome views of the Mountains. You can walk across a suspension bridge and climb up the rocks. The elevation is one mile over sea level. It is a private mountain with an expensive entrance fee. It costs 20$ per person. It is probably a must see in the area.

Grandfather Mountain is hands down my favorite place to visit in western NC. The views are beautiful, the animal encounters are great, and the restaurant and fudge shop are delicious. There is so much to do and learn at this attraction!

We enjoyed the Mile High Bridge and the breathtaking views. We also enjoyed the bears, otters, and the eagles (cougars were not on exhibit when we went). We thought the admission was a little steep ($20.00 per person) but we still enjoyed the time we spent there.
