Mild whitewater (class I & II) on the South Fork of the New River. Cooperative small mouth bass. Clean bathrooms at the campground. What more would you like? We camped at 220 access, and used the canoe launches at both Waggoner's and 220. Nice park...More

Very clean "drive to" campsites and restrooms. Sites are close to one another, but placed strategically so that there is privacy between them. US 221 is near the campground with minimal traffic and disturbance. Very well maintained.

My family stopped in on our NC State Parks Tour, and hung out on the river today. It was so quiet and peaceful we just got lost in ourselves. This is a great place to visit, and camp.

I live near the state park and I love the hiking areas here. Located in the Ashe County area of North Carolina, this park has wonderful views of the River, lovely mountain views, wonderful tours by the park rangers that everyone even kids would love.
