We took my nephew to see the monument. Wow did his eyes light up. He seemed to learn so much at Kitty Hawk and came away wanting to be a pilot when he grows up.

Don’t miss this wonderful exhibit and its historical importance to the world of flight! So much to see and enjoy. The park ranger was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Do some research before you see this amazing time in history and you will reap the benefits!

It is not very often that we get to walk where inventors walked, much less visit. It was living history as you walked the same distance that the Wright Bros. flew their four attempts. The hanger, 'home', memorial and statues added to the deeper understanding...More

Very nice memorial, which appears to be mostly privately funded. The rest stop offered clean restrooms, plenty of parking and maps to get oriented on the Outer Banks. The memorial itself was visually impressive, but super-informative as well. It was a welcome stop and fun...More

A very nice memorial for the first century of heavier than air powered flight- December 1903, December 2003. This site is peaceful and informative, listing many firsts in the history of flight. I was impressed.

We travelled a long distance to see this memorial and the kids and I loved it. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. It is with the stop.

The Monument to a Century of Flight was dedicated in 2003, the 100th anniversary of powered flight. The monument consists of fourteen wing-shaped steel pylons, ascending in height from 10 to 20 feet, and circling a six-foot bronze dome depicting the continents of Earth. The...More

While the park was closed we were able to park in a lot at the rear of the park and walk in. 15-20 mph winds were blowing and the temperature was mid 40’s but we were dressed for it and it made for a spirited...More

This was well worth the visit in spite of the visitor center being closed. The temporary center has little to offer, but there's still plenty to see.

This is an excellent rest area (most eastern North Carolina rest areas are exceptional) with a little history to go along with it. You will not be disappointed to take the extra little walk back to this monument and get a little teaser for the...More

You can google the hours of operation and I would say it would take a good hour or so to take pictures and look and hike the hill
