We did 3 of the trails. Never saw any wildlife, but trails are easy to follow and well kept. Roanoke trail takes you to a great spot right on the sound that's lovely.

This is a very pleasant place to walk around and discover some hidden areas in OBX. Pleasant walking/scenery. Bugs though! Bring your bug spray. Saw a couple of interesting birds. I do recommend this.

There are several paths easy to walk. Some in the native forests and some go to the sound, even an ADA path which is pretty cool if you just want a quick walk around. Peaceful and a world away from the hectic beach world but...More

Enjoyed our stay here. This place was less crowded when we visited because it was winter. The place is really nice and quiet and you have a lot to see and roam about.

It's hard to believe this exists near such built up areas of OBX! It makes for a very welcome change to the more crowded and commercial beach areas. This preserve is a very interesting environment, combining woods, dunes, and marshes/ponds. There are a number of...More

Nags Head Woods is a preserve that has several trails that lead you through maritime woods and pond areas. Great place to see local wildlife - turtles, frogs etc... No mosquitoes due to the local plants that live around the lakes. Quiet and shady. There...More

Good question, I don't have a dog, but I'm pretty sure I saw a hiker with an unleashed dog. He could have been breaking the rules. :) There were several signs before you get on the trail, I bet one of those had the answer... More
