This is a fascinating and very educational Memorial. There's a small museum/gift shop that houses the replica of the first airplane and a short presentation every two hours. It's a good place to visit in the Outer Banks to get some history lesson of the first flight. My kids and i enjoyed going to the markers where the Wright Brothers... More

Visited with our boys while down on spring break. Sat in on the tour and boys found it very interesting. Would recommend to families.

Make a special trip to see this historic site. On our recent visit, we took advantage of the talk by the park ranger, Jenny. She was fantastic.....she made the Wright brothers and their determination to do the impossible come alive. In the early 1900's, they traveled to Kill Devil Hills from Ohio because it was the eighth windiest place in... More

I've been here several times and always enjoy the visit. There is such a feeling and sense of history here; I think the only other place that would be similar is Launch Complex 39A at the John F. Kennedy Space Center.

Excellent presentation by the ranger. About 45 minutes that kept kids interested also Will be 2018 before the airplane is back. On display at the Museum of History in Raleigh, NC. Original in The Smithsonian in Washington DC. When sun is shining in from south you can see inside their living quarters quite well.

As a British military pilot of 26 years this was a bucket list visit back to where it all began. Well presented and respectfully looked after, the National Park Service do a wonderful job, not just here but country wide. A great place to spend a couple of hours imagining how it must have been.

Interesting to see where the first airplanes took off. The Wright Brothers came from Ohio to Kill Devil Hills to take advantage of the sand dunes. The first flight was no more than a few hundred feet and a few feet off the ground. Attractive park setting to walk and learn.

This is a must see when visiting OBX. You can walk the length of each each of the Wright Brothers' first flights and climb to the top of the Wright Brothers' Memorial which provides you with a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, Kitty Hawk Bay, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head. The Visitor's Center is currently closed for renovation... More
