We stopped in late on a Friday afternoon to get our NC State Parks passport stamped and do a short hike which was adjacent to the Park Hdqs. There was a very friendly ranger on duty who had a recent broken ankle, is awaiting surgery, but still on the job, with a smile and very helpful. There are a few... More

We rolled into this camp ground after dark a few days after Christmas choosing the first seemingly level site we saw. We plugged in with our 15 amp extension cord and crashed for the night. The next morning we found a beautiful camp site with a table, fire ring and arm to hang our camp light. Camp hosts checked in... More

The park appeared to be nice but it just didn't jump out at me as being anything special. You can picnic, camp, canoe, kayak, or fish. They offer 10 miles of hiking trails and bridal trails. We didn't walk very far (just stretching our legs) and the trail was wide and in good condition. The most fun was watching a... More

First stop on our state park-hopping road trip. Went down an easy trail to the river and back around. Out of the way park that is very quiet.

We camped at Medoc Mountain State Park for a couple days over Labor Day weekend in order to let a tropical storm pass through Hatteras Island before we arrived there. It was an unexpected stop, but we enjoyed it. The park had a few nice trails, and allowed us to stretch our legs in between rain showers. The trails were... More

Looking for an overnight spot to park our 37ft. + car tow, about 55ft total. Arrived just past 5pm, office closed so we drove through the RV campsites, tried to maneuver into 2 pull-through sites and they were not accommodating. Too narrow and curved. Sites for back-in available appeared very nice if we wanted to unhook and stay longer. This... More

We only live about an 1 1/2 hrs away. We have camped here several times. We love the secluded sites best but most do not have electricity. There are no water hook ups but plenty of faucets. It's clean. The showers are ample spaced and work well. We love to hike. We have been here in almost in every season.... More

We went up on a Sunday for some day hiking. The grass is kept fairly short which helps a lot with ticks. There is some loose rock on the trails, so shoes with ankle support would be good. There is very little artificial light around Medoc Mountain. A fair number of people take telescopes to the park for stargazing. It... More

We visited Medoc Mountain state park on Memorial weekend. We were very happy that we found this little gem. It is not a true mountain so it wasn't too steep and was perfect for bike rides with young kids. We stayed in group site 001 with a total of 6 adults and 4 kids. It wasn't very far from the... More

A little off the beaten path, but that's what we like. Campsites are very well kept and bath house was clean. There are water fill stations but not at individual sites. Some sites have electric. Ranger was friendly and helpful. Hiking trails were well maintained.
