Quiet and uncrowded in mid May. No hotels, only rentals on the beach. Lots of good placed to eat out nearby and quiet, clean beaches. We plan to return soon.

Have lived here 7 years full time. Awesome hidden gem Very family friendly Good mix of young and old. Alot of building going on currently. Great time to visit with your familyYou may just want to stay sunrise and subset are so beautiful

Holden is pretty similar to Ocean Isle Beach. I never wear sand shoes, but my wife always does. If you think you need them at OIB you should plan on needing them at Holden, too.
