A beautiful pair of carvings which are said to have _inspired_ Look Homeward Angel, i.e. it is NOT Wolfe's grave but a marker his father made. If the quote means something to you, go. It's a small cemetery, open entryway from the road.

The cemetery is right on US64, just outside the downtown and the angel is very easy to find. There isn't much to see...just what is in the picture.

Our stop to view the angel was really a geocacing stop as it is a virtual geocache. I read the book many many years ago. I guess one who has read the book has more interest in the angel than someone who has not.

I've read a little bit of Thomas Wolfe, but not a whole lot. Very easy to find. Driving through the cemetery, some of the roads are a little tight. Beautiful statue and a nice sign by the road, telling a brief history.

I came back to visit this statue as it was recently cleaned and checked out for needed repairs. It has already had a lot of repairs during the 100 years that it has been at the cemetery. Hopefully the next repairs will carry it through...More

Very nice angel statue connected to Thomas Wolfe. Statue is near the highway and is easy to find. Well marked by a historical marker on the highway.
