I took my two 10 year old grandsons and they loved this place. We ended up staying for over three hours, half the time indoors and half outdoors. We loved the planetarium the most. The movie explained climate change so well. The dinosaur exhibit was like a maze and the boys didn’t like that at all.

Farm animals, planetarium shows, natural history displays, and a wonderful area of indigenous culture. In the winter, the sock skating is a huge draw for young and old. Love this place!

Nice place, bigger inside than it looks. Displays were nice, interesting, relevant to the world we currently live in, with a good nod to the past.

My third time here. Museum offers a variety of exhibits of wildlife. Soucursteme of the information may need to be checked for accuracy. I believe their Black Bear notes may be inaccurate. Males can weigh upwards to 900 pounds and run up to about 35 mph. The "Farm" is a separate fee which makes no sense since access is from the parking lot and no one checks. In the "Farm" a building has a sign on it describing a cedar shake roof, but the roof is metal. The walking trail is nice but I observed few taking advantage. Overall, the museum part is excellent (with the planetarium) but I would like to see more from the "Farm" areas.

Came here with my kids (6 and 4) on a weekday right at opening. Waited around 30 min just to buy tickets (there were only about 10 families ahead of us probably), they just seemed unorganized at the front desk.

My kids particularly enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit and the taxidermy animals. Overall, the place was a lot bigger than I was expecting.

Also did one of the planetarium shows. It is definitely geared towards children. Think the content was slightly above my 6 year old, but I think that teenagers might be bored by it. So I would say 7-10 years old would be perfect age there. Traveled around an hour to see the museum (from SC) and I would say my kids enjoyed it enough that we will be back again in a year or so.

I was surprised by how much this small museum had to offer and the price was very reasonable. There was a variety of exhibits of animals and nature. Unfortunately, the planetarium was closed, and there wasn't a gift shop. However, the wooded trail outside added an extra experience to the museum visit.

I had high hopes for the planetarium, but it was totally geared towards children. Inside the museum, they had some amazing taxidermy animals on display.

I have been going here since I was a kid. As long as your license has a Gastonia address, its free to enter. It has grown alot with alot of exhibits to choose from and some minor wildlife. Has an authentic Catawba Indian Village Setup and is a great time for the entire family. My children and grandchildren have been there and hope to take my Great Grandchildren some day!!!

My family arrived just as the museum opened on a Saturday morning. Prices were fair for the amount of exhibits there were to explore. A few high touch experiences are still out of commission due to COVID protocol but that is to be expected at this point. I was disappointed that the Native American Village exhibit was closed on the weekends as there is no way for us as a working family to go during the week. Even so, everything else was full of fun and information for all of us. Definitely will be back again in the future!
