This is the coolest rock and gem museum I have ever been it. The staff is very friendly and informative. The collections they have in there are amazing! Plus you get a tour of the very old original jail! This place is pretty cool! Thanks Marsha and Virginia for a very nice time.

Stopped in with family after lunch at a local cafe and loved the history provided about the gems found in the area. Great for families and rock-hounds alike. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

If you are interested in seeing the types of Minerals and Precocious Stones are found locally this is the place to go. It is free to enter and tour, it is a not for profit museum ( they will except donations). It is housed in the historic old Jail House.

Took family to visit gems, very intresting for kids. Had a great time. The gifts to purchase were not expensive and plenty to choose from. Would recommend a visit when in town.

We went on a Saturday and there was no crowd , so we lucked up and one of the guys that helps run it , pretty much gave us information through the downstairs . We learned so much from this man . We were there following my husbands genealogy work . This was an old jail ,upon going upstairs we... More

Great museum! I'm from the SF area, and I've been very disappointed at the removal of our gem/mineral exhibit from the Academy of Sciences. It has made a small, but infuriating comback, more an arts display than science. There's none of that at the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum. It is a welcoming, unfussy place. The focus is on the... The ladies working during our visit were so wonderful with my son, who happens to be a rock hound. And I love that this used to be a jail! Good collection of gemstones and historical artifacts. Worth a visit.

The Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum has a lot of information on all types of rock, native american artifacts;pottery and arrow heads and native rocks. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It looks small on the outside but has numerous rooms filled with gems, stones, rocks and so much more.
