So much fun to dig your own dirt and sift through it to find gems. This is native dirt...a short walk from the sluice...grab a shovel and dig it yourself. They do have "gem enriched" buckets already filled if you don't want to dig. The sluices are covered to protect from the sun. We had a sunny but cooler day-... More

The staff here go ABOVE AND BEYOND. They are excelant to help you not only find gems but identify them. They even separated the into individual bags and labeled them for us to remember. I have been to several mines and this is hands on the best I have ever visited. The price is much better than any I have... More

We've visited Mason's twice now, and I think we'll make it a semi-annual tradition. We've had great luck with the native mining, coming away with more than a few small stones each time. We're also big fans of the UV Light mining. My son got a bell ringer during our first visit and 6 carat the second that was of... More

What a haul we made! We chose the $100 'salted' bucket because we were not just after sapphires which are harder to come by. The value in retail $ was well over 2.5 times worth what we paid for the gems we came home with. ( i have bought crystals retail at shows and in stores for years.) GPS took... More

Mason's sapphire and ruby mine is UNIQUE in that they do NOT salt the mines meaning all the gems you find are directly from that location and not sprinkled with gems from somewhere else. You also get to go out to the mountain over a picturesque babbling stream where you get to carefully select your location and DIG YOUR OWN... More

If you're looking to go native sapphire mining, then look no further! Mason's Sapphire Mine is amazing! It really is true mining! The orange dirt does stain! So, make sure you wear clothes that you can get messy in! You get to go up to the mining area and dig up your own dirt and then bring it down to... More

If you are looking for a good place to bring your kids mining for pretty stones this would be it. The dig your own salted pile is great. Ms. Judy is very welcoming and will get out there and help in any way possible. My husband worked there a couple years ago and he loved his job when he was... More

I just want everyone to know the goats are gone. Thank goodness. They were fenced in on the neighboring property and they kept escaping. We only have 1 cat, a dog, and 1 rooster now on the property. More

This was our 6th trip to Mason's mine. This was just a single day trip instead of our normal 3-4 day camping trip. We continue to return because of the awesome time we have here. This is an unbeatable place to relax and unwind. Judie welcomes everyone soon as they arrive and makes you feel like a welcome guest to... More

My mom and I have came two years in a row and we will be back!! The staff here was truly amazing, especially Steve aka "eagle eye". There is a reason why he has that nickname he can spot a sapphire fast! If you allow him he will make sure you don't miss anything. We had heard about the black... More
