While taking a drive from Florida to the North with a two year old, we were looking for interesting things to get out to do. Although not immediately off I-95, it is not too far. The museum is extremely fairly priced ($3 kid, $1 adult) and gave us the chance to allow our son to burn off some energy before hitting the road again. Keep in mind, the exhibits are definitely for smaller children (2-6 yr olds). We were there on a Saturday morning and it wasn't busy; those that were there were locals. We were able to be occupied for 2 full hours. Most exhibits seem to be well maintained and clean. There were of course a few that were a bit dated. The employees were kind and greeted us. Parking is close by and free (with a few hour limit). Although there is no food in the museum for sale, downtown cafes (no fast food) are only a few blocks walking distance away.

This is a great option for your under five year old crowd. The Museum is VERY low tech however a big HIT with the little crowd. The older crowd will be bored but remind yourself that you are there for them and they are having a blast and best of all they are using their imagination. This good for maybe a couple of hours but afterwards the downtown offers a several opportunities to grab something to eat or some coffee.

We've been in other museum's with this theme, although most don't call themselves museums, and find this to be the best we've visited. It is designed as a town for children -- they can grocery shop, fight fires, join the Army, work in a hospital, etc. Displays are clean and in working order and children may self select where they play and for how long. And it's not so big that parents can lose the sprinters. We had a 6 year old and a 3 year old in tow - both had already been to the museum several times but found plenty to play with for a happy 90 minutes.
Small gift shop has a nice station for teaching children about money and purchasing.

Their slogan is "Imagination without limits". But.. it does here. If you move the phone from the judge's center, the workers will scold your children and tell them to "put things back where they go". If the "secret agent" papers are found on the stage are (and not in the fort), they will do the same. I was amazed at how rude the staff was.. this is more like a person's home. "Put your things back and don't move stuff around." So.. imagination does have limits here. This is also not my first visit and it has been that way each time. There is a reason it is never busy and it is a shame. I am willing to overlook the dirt, uncleanliness, and falling apart appearance.. but not the rude attitude of the staff. Children are precious, but they are also messy. They do not understand that here.

This museum is set up like a make believe town inside a building. There is a tiny post office, court house, grocery store, fire truck, ambulance and police car all set up for toddlers to climb on and explore. Additional displays include a stage with costumes, news castor chairs and desk as well as a mini school house. Most of the interactive displays did not work. The children are able to run free and explore but nothing short of chaos on a Saturday at noon! The floors, walls and displays are very old and not clean. I do not recommend this museum for a family with small children. If you do go and decide to expose your children I would recommend bringing your own thermos of hot water and foaming soap plus a change of clothes for when you leave. The museum needs a top to bottom makeover to justify the entry fee. We will not return.

We visited Fascinate-U children's museum today and were none too pleased. This place is old, run down and dirty. No one is keeping things up. Everything was misplaced, there were things scattered everywhere and half of the things didn't even work. It is small and unorganized. We were very disappointed in the lack of security and saw people just walking in with out even going to the desk to pay. The desk was away from the door and the lady behind the desk was busy helping people in the store, she wouldn't have even noticed if someone would just walk in.

This was a very cute little hands on activity for the young one to do. It was AC'd and had seats for the adults to rest on while watching the children play. The children would mingle with other children and role play many occupations. Kids are $4 & adults are $3. But if you stop by the visitors center, they have BOGO coupons. So does any of the info handout displays. I would definitely recommend the childrens museum and take a camera along! There is even a cow they can milk! This was a blessing since I had to entertain the young one while the mother was at the court house doing business! Within walking distance from the court house, too! Right near the circle!!! Enjoy!

My boys have always enjoyed visiting the children's museum. It's in an old historic building and there is a lot of learning available. Kids aren't ever ready to leave!!

Basically a building with each room featuring similar household toys grouped together with a few larger-scale backdrops. My 4 year-old daughter didn't learn anything and definitely was not fascinated. Would only recommend for families with young toddlers - those who recently learned to walk and are entertained with their new-found freedom.

I am a local, at age 70plus, and I have 8 grandchildren..ages 17-8 and all of them have been here..many times..and had birthday parties. This is a place of great memories for them and should be a place of fun and memories for many children. As a retired educator it is an asset to Fayetteville!!
