Three-acre 1804 garden/cemetery restored to its full glory. The garden has annual display beds and borders entwined through the 200-year-old cemetery. Ancient stone foundation flanked with stone resting benches. Spring beds of pansies, hyacinths, daffodils, azaleas and 1400 tulips in the garden. Year-round the garden boasts enormous oaks. magnolias, dogwoods, roses and twisted crape myrtles. Locals take a bag lunch and enjoy the scenery, most of us have taken pictures of this beautiful place. Fountains, flowers, large trees, paths and benches, what more could you ask for? #1 Tip: Don't forget a camera. #2: If the school kids are there, pick another day or go later. Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Closed Monday

We walked through the memorial gardens and it was beautiful! The flowers were very well kept and stones had been maintained well. There is a map to guide you as well as provide extra information. Parking was very convenient and the area is mall and can be seen with brief periods of time.

This is a must see in the spring, especially around Easter when the masses of tulips are in bloom around the fountain. Many kinds of flowers and flowering trees and bushes are represented here (most have identifying name plates) and the garden staff keeps it all trimmed and cleaned up nicely. There are a few huge old trees shading large areas. It's not a large garden but it's a bit hilly and there are steps to climb if you want to see it all, which might take an hour. The gravestones are old and niches for more recent cremains are at the very back. Children are welcome but need to stay on the paths. It's free but not open on Mondays.

Visited the Memorial Garden on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The Presbyterian Church owns the Garden. It USED to be beautiful. Today, some of the flower beds were just dirt and there were weeds everywhere. The big pots had no plants in them. Having visited the Garden hundreds of times in past years, I was shocked at the lack of flowering plants. There were plenty of azaleas in bloom earlier this spring, but they did not require any planting cause they have been there for years. There were no volunteers on site. The maintenance garage and office were closed. In the past, I have always seen at least one volunteer on site and oftentimes, a manager was present. The grass had been cut, but there was no evidence of the Tulip beds or concrete pots having been replanted for late spring/ early summer.

The garden is beautiful, especially when all the flowers are in bloom in the spring. However, the woman (caretaker) is absolutely miserable and will ruin your visit. Don't dare try to talk to each other, she'll scream at you for making noise. I can't recommend the garden for anyone with children due to her disrespect. Quite a shame, as it's quite beautiful.

Downtown Concord and the huge old homes were born in the 1800's when the South was world headquarters for the booming textile industry. The Cannon family put Cabarrus County on the map by establishing Cannon Mills as one of the largest and highest-quality textile manufacturing concerns in the world. In addition, the family helped generations of families to make a good living and also established a bank, a hospital and a YMCA as part of their provision to and for their employees. Memorial Gardens marble and granite markers lie a stone's throw from the former Cannon homes and many of its now-silent residents were there to walk the oak-lined streets of that century. First Presbyterian Church invites guests year-round at no cost (except for professional photography or guided tours) although donations are always appreciated if offered. Visit the Gardens in spring to see the brilliance of the tulips or a little later for the azaleas. There's no time of year when a walk through the gardens won't remove some of the stress from your life and show you a glimpse of a calmer world and slower pace than we contend with today.

Spring time is the best time to go with the flowers blooming, but anytime is nice. It would be a pretty setting for photos.

Every Spring, it is a pleasure to stroll through the Memorial Garden. The grounds are so well maintained and manicured. The flower beds are bursting with color. Tulips are abundant and azaleas beginning to bloom. This is a "hidden gem" in downtown Concord and what's nice is that there is free parking adjacent to the Garden.
