Located next to visitor center, a collection of period farm buildings. Life on a farm in the mountains 100 years ago. Tough life.

A truly stunning representation of a true Cherokee Village. The staff are actual Cherokee and can answer any question you put to them. They are truly helpful to those that are complete novices about our heritage.

Go back in time, and enjoy the scenery. It is set beautifully in the Great Smokey Mountains. There is also a trail along the river, and places to sit and listen to the river,

I visited the Oconaluftee Indian Village with friends. We spent time on the Cherokee reservation and had an opportunity to see both the modern and the history and traditions of the Cherokee Nation. The stories of the suffering of the Cherokee on the Trail of Tears, their rich traditions and culture moved us. Our visit to Oconaluftee was towards the... More

Very well done. Very professional. Indians and people playing settlers do a great job of staying in character. Watching the skills needed to survive in the early 1700's and the various Indian dances were all very interesting. Runs from May to October. We went in September the leaves around the area were beautiful.

It is fun to walk along a path in the woods. My sister used her walker. The guide stopped at spots where blankets, bead work, and pottery were being made, arrows were made, and poison dart shooting exhibited. We went inside a cabin set up the way people really lived and stored their needs in it. The educators laughed and... More

This is a must "see" if you love "accurate" history! Very Authentic! A "live" working museum of the Cherokee Indians.
