Overview
More
Located in what was the original branch of the United States Mint, Mint Museum Randolph opened in 1936 in Charlotte’s Eastover neighborhood as the state’s first art museum. Today, in a beautiful park setting, intimate galleries invite visitors to engage with the art of the ancient Americas, ceramics and decorative arts, fashion, European and African art, among other collections. Resources include a reference library with over 18,000 volumes, a theater featuring lectures and performances, and a museum shop offering merchandise that complements both the permanent collection and special exhibitions.

I like this museum better than the one uptown. The exhibits are always great and well organized. it is never crowded and their decorative arts collection is wonderful.

Coming from the Chicagoland culture of amazing museums, I want to say the Mint Museum ranks right up there. A great collection to have on your to do list for a day of leisure.

Came specifically to see the Wyeth exhibit and was not disappointed. Three generations are represented with informative displays. Have been visiting for many years and delighted in the growth including downtown location.

Charlotte can be a little too loud sometimes, but the Randolph location of the Mint Museum is a wonderful break from it. With small sectioned off exhibits, it's easy to find alone time with local pottery and a historic collection of painting. They have a...More

We were lucky enough to visit while a show was up featuring 3 generations of Wyeths. These are the type of special shows that make museum attendance worthwhile. The building itself is impressive and they have some nice permanenet exhibits along with traveling shows.

This gem outside the uptown bustle is just big enough to have an intimate afternoon soaking in some culture. Rotating current exhibitions are thought provoking and always interesting. Permanent collections highlight some very fine examples of Meso-American artifacts and fine claywork from China and England.

We only toured the "coin" part of the Mint (lower floor), as we were in a time crunch. However, my husband's interest was in the gold coins, as opposed to the art, so it worked out well. Located and surrounded by a park setting, the...More

The price was reasonable. My son enjoyed himself and is very interested in going to more museums based on what he saw here.
