This place is a charming break from the city. The old beautiful trees and plants blend so beautifully with the fountains and animals. Its so well kept and a bargain to give into as well. Our friends got engaged here as well!

I brought my toddler grandsons here and it has become a favorite spot! We have returned 3-4 times and the boys are enchanted each time. They do not want to leave. The children's area is very appealing and provides a great introduction to gardening skills. Beautiful peaceful walkways in a well loved heritage garden. Each time I go something new... More

Thank you. We think it is magical as well. Please also join us for the monthly StoryTime in the Garden programs (sign up online) and take the #tulippoplarchallenge (climbing into the giant tulip poplar through a tree hollow at the base) with your grandsons on your next visit! More

A beautiful private garden created with lots of love over decades. This is the home of a couple who spent their whole lives caring for this property and birds were lovingly welcomed. You will be transformed as you wander the paths. A wonderful Charlotte treasure.

This site was not large but very special. You can visit the original house of the owner and see a nice video about their efforts to create a haven for birds. It is a lovely garden and you can also visit a second garden a few houses down. Not expensive and very nice if you like gardens.

i have lived here in Charlotte, NC since 1993 and this is my first time visiting. I love gardens and nature and decided to join even before visiting. Last eve they had a beautiful event in the gardens showcasing artists, wine selections and beautiful jazz. I so enjoyed walking thru the gardens (something was blooming and it smelled delicious). The... More

We visited these gardens in August with another couple. The gardens are set in a lovely residential area of Charlotte offering a retreat from the heat and the bustle of a busy city. The people who worked there were charming and knowledgable and willing to answer any questions we had. We had a lovely walk through the gardens, mostly under... More

Thank you for your kind comments. Wing Haven's two historic gardens -- the Clarkson Garden and the Elizabeth Lawrence Garden -- were created and are maintained with seasonal garden color in mind. If you do visit in the winter months, for instance, you will be rewarded with a wide variety and color of camellias in the Clarkson Garden, numerous bird... More

Lovely to wander through, calming, and has a home on site, tours available, and a gift shop. Several times a year it features a garden sale.

We appreciate your visit! Wing Haven owns and operates two historic public gardens and homes on Ridgewood Avenue.
