Explore a real gravitational anomaly at Mystery Hill! Amazing visitors...

Explore a real gravitational anomaly at Mystery Hill! Amazing visitors since 1948 visitors receive a quick guided tour of the Mystery Platform where two guest stand on a perfectly level platform but appear to grow and shrink as they switch sides and the Mystery House where the laws of gravity appear to have been forgotten as things roll up hill and visitors experience a strange pull to the North. After the tour guest are invited to stay and experiment as long as they like before moving on to the Hall of Mystery with a series of Optical Illusions and Hands on activities including The Shadow Wall, the Spooky Spigot, The Flying Mirror, and everyone's favorite Bubblerama where you can actually stand inside a giant soap bubble. Visitors also get free admission to visit the Moon and Irene Mullins Arrowhead Collection of over 100,000 arrowheads they collected over their life time and to a walk thru the 1903 Dougherty House the home of the founders of Appalachian State University. Also while at Mystery Hill visitors can buy a bucket and try their hand at Gem Mining at the area's premier gem mine Doc's Rocks and the Appalachian Fossil Museum. Open 7 days a week year round, rain or shine. Mystery Hill is located between Boone and Blowing Rock on Hwy 321.

Kids like it..very touristy

If you have young kids, they will probably get a kick out of it. It is just an old-fashioned type "tourist trap".

It's not worth going out of your way for but if you're passing by and you have young kids, it's something to do. The "tour guide" didn't offer any explanation of the exhibits and seemed like he didn't really care to be there. They could make this place more fun with a tour guide that makes it fun but for... This was a fun little stop on our travels in N.C. The illusion gravity room was terrific and really threw us off balance. It is an all day admission for reasonable price which includes the mystery room, bubble room and two small museum areas. More geared to young kids and I can see how teens may be bored but we... Over priced and a little run down. Maybe ok for young kids but not worth the admission money. Very disappointed, teens would be bored.

Fun to experience a change in perspective and see how it makes you feel! This can be the bases of a science discussion with kids about why you have the sensations you have.

I was a little leary when we pulled up and should have followed my gut. Very disappointed. We paid 9 pp to go through the house. The "illusions" were pretty poorly done. The gravity room was neat but was about the only thing. Not worth the admission.

Jennifer we are so sorry we did not live up to your expectations we have been entertaining visitors since 1948 and we pride ourselves on a fun time for all ages at a great value and we are really bummed when that does happen. Most of our visitors tell us that $9 is a great value for a guided tour... More

My family has been coming here for years, although my children are grown they still enjoy coming here for the Vortex room. The staff gives a great informative guide and then you can explore on your own. Great family experience.

My husband and granddaughters went.. The look on their faces at some of the stuff there was priceless. Especially where one that is the youngest appeared to be bigger than her older sister..lol

Our kids loved this place! Admission is fairly priced and there is lots to look at and do. I would recommend this attraction to all age groups. We will be visiting again soon!

Family enjoyed the mystery and puzzles. Doesn't take long to complete. 4 year old and 13 year old enjoyed. Price is reasonable, gift shop has wide range of prices on gifts for everyone. Was our second visit.
