Great views, but $7 each to see them!

We enjoyed driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway up to Boone and then Blowing Rock. We could've seen similar views for free but this panoramic view is hard to beat.

We arrived late in the afternoon on a Saturday, but it was a few mins. after they closed. Not realizing the time, we had a friend from out of town flying out the next morning, so the woman behind the counter made an exception and allowed us 10 mins. We didn't get to shop in their massive gift store, but... More

You can get the same view from the canyons restaurant just down the road. Paid $14 for my wife and I and we spent maybe 15 min there. Waste of time and money. Views are great but you can get that for free on the Blueridge Parkway or the restaurant. Not recommended.

This is the formation that gives the area it's name. From the parking lot, on most days, you can hear the wind wipping up the mountain. It is small but suprizing. We walked around outside and then into the gift shop but didn't pay to walk the short distance to "The Rock". It's only a few blocks off the main... More

I visited the Blowing Rock on a recent mountain visit, and was very happy that I made it to this attraction! It was very windy the day that I visited, which added to the fun (since we were perched on the top of the mountain). We were especially charmed by the two sweet cats (Grover and Lena) who greeted us... More

We visited on a clear day and were able to see the bridge at Grandfather Mountain with our binoculars. It is a great family place to chill for a few hours.

I don't like to write negative reviews. But I also rely on reviews when traveling. So, I'm here to warn you: this is a joke of a tourist trap. $7 a person is a total rip-off. The rock is so small I MISSED IT when we walked by it the first time. Then when we found it again, my husband... More

Very easy site to visit. Other sites have lots of hiking and steps. This one is basically our your car door. Worth the view!

A little pricey but gorgeous. Would not want pay on a foggy day. We went at 4 and had to be out by 5.

I was interested in the story and expected a bigger, more impressive rock than it actually was. The view was nice and the rocks were fun to climb on but I wouldn't suggest going out of your way to see this. You can probably see the same view going on a hike in the area.
