This is a great in-town hike if you have a few hours available. There are two named waterfalls and a cascade on this well-worn stream-side trail. The first waterfall on New Years Creek (yes, the actual name), Glen Burney Falls, is the site of a 1931 tragedy in which a heroine emerged from Charlotte (Google 'Waterfall Horror'). Most of this... Approximately a two mile hike right in town. Goes along a stream with several picturesque waterfalls. The trail is moderately challenging due to rugged terrain of the trail, i.e. large rocks and roots in trail.

Nice hike. Wet mud but good view of falls. Short hike in 2 hours walking and stopping for photos. Be careful if ice is on ground. Great day trip.

A great walking experience on a nice fall day. Even with an elementary age student and a Parkinson's adult everyone was able to enjoy. I would not suggest this activity for a day with inclement weather. Rocky and mountainous terrain. The waterfalls are beautiful and against the beautiful fall colors of ruby red, golden yellow, vibrant orange plus some green... More

Hiked the trail last weekend to take some Fall pictures. Beautiful scenery and waterfalls. Wear hiking shoes recommended, and plan for an enjoyable day in nature

Be prepared for beautiful views, gorgeous water falls, quiet spots and one heck of a hike on this trail!

Semi-challenging all down hill for over 1.6 miles and then the walk back up. Past storms have taken there toll on this trail lots of down trees and blocked views. The falls are viewable after a log climb. Wear sensible shoes this is not a casual walk.

We had a couple of hours to kill before checking into our hotel, and it wouldn't be a vacation without a hike. The trailhead for the Glen Burney trail is located in the center of Blwoing Rock. There is a small parking lot. It is a hike down/hike back up trail past several waterfalls/cascades. We didn't feel it was excessively... More

This is a beautiful trail and waterfall. More difficult hike than we expected and I would definitely say you need to have good walking or hiking shoes on! We loved it and enjoyed the beauty of the area.

Took guest there recently for a hike. It had rained several days prior so, the trail was muddy and slippery. The stream along side the trail was very inviting, made you want to kick your shoes off and wade in. Really nice hour hike!
