We planned a family vacation to the Appalachian Ski Mountain resort which young children. The Ski Mountain in itself was enjoyable and our children liked it. However we rented the Snowbird Cabin and it has been the worst experience ever. The cabin had the following...More

The NC ski resorts took a beating this year due to the mild winter. I applaud Appalachian for keeping their resort open thru nearly the end of March; I made the short trip over from my place at another close by resort that had already...More

Great place for beginners, good service. Great staff! We really enjoy the time at Appalachian. We really recommend to take the class if you never ski before you going to need it!

One of our favorite spots to ski. Prices are fair and the value is good. Season extends into late March and is less crowded then. But even in the busy season it is a great place to ski. They have a restaurant onsite, put also...More

Older ski resort, yet very, very clean and well maintained. Kids had a blast. Jesse our instructor was awesome. If you don't want to ski, stay indoors by the fire. Either way, you can't go wrong. We'll be back.

Great family fun for the money! The staff is wonderful and our instructor was fabulous. At no time did we feel rushed or pressured. We sprung for the private lessons. Worth every cent!

I would not expect snow that early, it really depends on the temp if they can make it or not. I would look further north like Snowshoe Mtn or anywhere in the Poconos for snow that early...And I would say about 15 miles and... More

We took the family last year. I am 46 and hadn't skied in 20+ years. My husband 48 had never skied. He took a 1:1 lesson while the kids were in a group lesson and it worked out great.
