Nice collection of artifacts especially the Blackbeard/pirate exhibits with some hands-on things for smaller kids. If you're in the Beaufort historical district its well worth taking a look at this free attraction.

Plan at least 2 hours, if not more. This small town museum is beautifully laid out, very well done and worth every minute. Do not miss this

Great museum. Fascinating exhibits, including meticulous details about Black Beards infamous Queen Anne's Revenge. Highly recommended for a hot days reprieve, or for any curious mind.

Start with the movie about the search for Blackbeards ship the Queens Ann's Revenge. Fascinating history of him and the ship. The big question, did he run his ship aground on purpose or was it an accident?

It's a small indoor museum, I did not see any dogs when we were there. I'm thinking it would not be appropriate to bring dogs in.
