For a free museum, it was very well put together. With four boys ages from 11-7, there was something of interest for all. Loved all the information on Blackbeard and especially learning about his ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge.

The museum features items from Blackbeard's ship which sank right off the coast at Beaufort. There is ongoing archeology and if you're lucky, you are able to see them working on the most recent artifacts.

For a free museum, this is an exceptional bargain. The exhibits are well done and pertinent to the area.

My wife and I spent about four hours here. There is so much we learned about mid Atlantic maritime history. If you like pirates, you'll find many artifacts from Blackbeard's ship Queen Anne's Revenge. No admission charge but donations are gladly accepted.

This history and natural history museum is fun and free (donations welcomed) is very interesting for all ages. We especially enjoyed the historic wooden boat rebuild shop and boats on display. Black Beard' the Pirate's ship salvaged item display was very interesting and they are still bringing up new items. Definitely worth the visit.

The (volunteer) greeter at the front desk genuinely welcomed us and gave us an overview of the collections. So nice to listen to her stories about living in the area too. We both found this place fascinating. They have a fun interactive Blackbeard exhibit and we liked the shipwreck life saving displays. Well worth making a donation for admission -... More

We drove down from my parents house at Havelock and it was amazing. They ask for a donation, totally worth it to preserve the history they have there, and you are off on a self guided tour. For kids, they offer a seek-and-find sheet that earns them a sticker after finding everything. There is a lot of information on pirates,... More
