I will be honest, I was mainly visiting to see the artifacts recovered from Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge. However, they have a lot of other cool maritime pieces that intrigued me as well. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. The museum is small but very well laid out.

This is a museum that doesn't charge for entrance except donations. I expected more findings of Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge but has many other collections that are NC and nautical related. Good way to spend an hour or two if your in the area. Good for kids and history buffs.

We went in Feb., and the admission was free I don't know if it's like that all of the time. They had a donation jar which we were happy to donate to. For those of you that don't know Blackbeard the pirate was captured/killed in Beaufort. They had a nice display with artifacts from that time as well as a... More

This is a very nice museum (which is free, by the way!). The exhibit about Blackbeard the Pirate is fascinating, well-curated, and makes a visit to the museum completely worthwhile. Other than pirates, though, I, personally, am not particularly interested in maritime history or themes, so the other exhibits in the museum didn't hold a great deal of appeal for... More

Wife and I visited the Maritime Museum and had a very informative visit about the fishing and boats in the area and a lot of information on Black Beard the Pirate. Lots of information about the Queen Annes Revenge, his boat. Would definitely recommend.

We stopped into the museum just prior to leaving town, I wish we would have stopped in sooner, I didn't want to leave. The exhibits were very well done so as to get your attention, keep it and leave you with and excellent understanding some of Beaufort history, I will be going back and dedicating a day to visit again!

Very informative with lots of exhibits. History buffs and sea lovers will find this museum well worth the trip. Being in the medical field I was amazed at the real whale heart that was on display. Very cool! My husband even enjoyed the fishing exhibits, as well as the outboard motor displays.
